Early winter crystal snowflakes fell one after another under the dove sky creating thick, white soft sheets of snow. The cold, fresh air delicately pierced through the uniform as the wind accompanied the falling layers of ice, gently breezing upon the good and the bad. The surroundings looked like heaven, anything you'd look at would be covered in inches of white, delightful dreams. Most importantly first snow reminded everyone the arrival of Christmas. Every house in Hogsmeade fashioned themselves with bright Christmas lights that shone upon the cheery and Hogwarts has never looked so alive.

Outside of the school for wizards and witches, the students enjoyed the sudden change in weather. Their legs sauntered upon imprints of boots among the crunchy snow. They'd grab a handful of the white, crumbling flakes and mingle it between their gloves until it was a solid ball of cold clot. Some students, without using their wands, kneeled down dismissing the frost stuck to their knees and would mould the snow like it was clay. Some would model a snowman and others would go for more complex builds.

Those falling, icy flakes would leave a cold sting once it would land on skin. Unprotected hands and faces quickly turned red and yet, the joy did not fade away. They had no problem shuddering for a couple hours as long as they'd get to use up their time with snow as much as they could.

So, among the scattered flocks of groups, you and your friends were playing too, sprinting around like a bunch of stone men first discovering the fire as you'd lean, dash and duck away from each other, throwing the snowballs.

Lily was more of an easy target, her red hair stuck out like a rose-petal amongst the white sheets. The same with Molly, all though, her hair was shorter. In this game, you and Mary were playing against them both in a pair of duos battle.

Whilst Mary took care of creating defences, you'd quickly toss the snow at your two opponents. And if you'd get close to being hit, Mary would cover you and you'd find some sort of strategic way to win.

A ball whistled above Lily's head, throwing the red beanie off her and landing among the white pile behind. She then immediately got hit in the shoulder by Mary.

"Hey!" - Lily shouted at Mary who was now chuckling. Lily, wearing her red gloves, wiped the frosty bits off her shoulder as she reached out for her beanie behind her, shook of the snow then halted, doubting whether she should put the now cold fabric back on her head.

You quickly took an opportunity and suddenly popped your head out of your white, solid, snow wall and threw a snowball at her which bolted and crumbled right at her face "Sorry!" - you shouted with your eyes wide as you slowly hid back behind your wall, feeling slightly guilty

"For Merlin's sake..." - Lily mumbled under her breath, tucking the red beanie into her coat's pocket as she quickly ran over to Molly behind an opposing wall where she shoved a bunch of flakes into a new pile.

As you were about to take a sneak peek, you heard Mary yell next to you

"Get down!" - Thanks to her you successfully dodged Molly's surprise attack from the front-right side.

"Chill out, guys!" - you shouted at them without even looking at where anyone was

"Is that a pun?!" - Lily yelled before throwing another snowball, hitting the back of Mary's head who was now sprinting away from your area.

"Not intentional!" - you quickly threw one at Molly who tumbled backwards. The grin she wore on her face thinking she was being sneaky faded as you ran away, dodging some of Lily's terrible throws. You quickly rushed to Mary, who was still glaring at Molly whom was rubbing her now-red nose.

"Lily!" - Suddenly Molly cried out to the ginger, watching a snowball dashing for Evan's head, and so, now alarmed, Lily leaped to the side, dodging the snowball that hit the nearest person walking behind her.

All four of you stopped playing as soon as you saw frozen Tom Riddle who, after the hit, was covering his stinging face with his two thin, black gloves. The Slytherin scarf he wore protected him against neck freeze but not from the bits that fell down after his face was hit.

"Man DOWN! I repeat, man DOWN!" - you yelled out, signalling your friends to stop "RETREAT!" - you shouted and instead of running away you ducked down behind your fragile wall.

"A man? Where?" - Lily teased, feeling revolted by his sudden presence.

Riddle rubbed the icy flakes off his eyes and cleared his black coat from the bits of snow. Appearing annoyed, his green eyes glared straight at your wall as he said in a low tone "I know you're there, <___>"

Knowing you didn't really have a choice, you got up from the white ground and awkwardly waved at sneering Tom "Hi, there. I didn't see you."

Tom folded his arms "Don't you have something to say?"

You twiddled your thumbs "I was trying to hit someone else."

Tom gave Lily one disgusted glance then gazed back at you "You think this is fun?"

"Have you tried making a snow angel yet?" - you flashed him an idiotic smile before falling on the freezing sheets of snow then as if doing lazy jumping jacks on the ground, you formed an outline of an angel. "see?"

Tom glared at the imprint "Is it a deformed angel?"

"Tsk" - you smiled "You don't like anything I make"

Observing the scenario, Mary interrupted as she looked at Marvolo "Do you want to join?"

"No thanks" - he quickly shot her down

"Alright, good" - Lily quickly answered for her.

"Wait, no" - you said, shaking your head before gazing back at Tom "I think it would be quite fun to see how good he is"

"I wouldn't know how to." - he glared at your uniform covered In white flakes "Besides. It is a tacky muggle sport."

"And so is your face..." - Lily mumbled under her breath again, she really didn't like him.

Tom, not standing too far, heard her. He glared at her as if he was about to murder her, frowning "Filthy Mudblood."

"Oh no..." - Molly gulped, she didn't want to see conflict, unlike Mary, who as if a hungry lion was eager to see where the feud would lead.

"Haven't heard THAT one before" - Lily rolled her eyes, folding her arms.

"Guys, chill out!" - you stepped in-between the duo "The weather is for once cool so you need to be cool"

"Enough with the frost jokes, <___>" - Mary chuckled "They're just stone cold"

You gave her a 'stop it' glance before quickly changing your mind and uttering "Whatever tension is going on here, you need to freeze it"

"He isn't seriously joining us, is he?" - Lily asked you, ignoring the jokes

Before you'd answer, Tom interfered, sneering at the ginger "I wouldn't even if you begged on your knees."

"But... wouldn't it be like you showing us your abilities?" - you asked him, thinking of ways to lure him in "You brag about how good you are with--"

"So you'd like me to push you into self despair after your defeat?" - he calmly asked, smirking

"...Is that yes?" - you asked

Lily, still listening to the conversation, interrupted "I changed my mind." - she tapped her foot, sharply staring right into Tom's emerald eyes "You and <___> versus me, Mary and Molly. Wait. Actually--- if you're so confident, why not just have all four of us against you."

"Child's play." - Tom sneered "Literally."

"Then let's do this, prefect boy" - Lily leaned down to get snow, instantly hurling a ball at Tom who dodged it by simply stepping to the side.

Let the games begin.
