MACKENZIE'S POV:
(Continuation from the last chapter).
Someone was shaking me.
I slowly flutter my eyes open, groaning at the light that had just come to my eyes.
Lauren was hovering over me, a big grin on her face.
"What is it, honey?" I ask, smiling sweetly.
"Daddy is here." My smile quickly faded as those words escaped her mouth. "And he wants to speak to you."
My body immediately tensed up, as I dug my fingers into my palm again. But this time, there was a bandage covering it, so there won't be much harm done. I clenched my jaw and gulped loudly. I guess he brings out the worst in me.
"W-What?" I stuttered.
"Kenzie," I heard a voice say. That voice belonged to Johnny.
I turned my head towards the doorway, biting my tongue.
He just stood there, leaning against the wall.
He was wearing a white t-shirt, with these light blue ripped jeans. He forgot to brush his hair, which gave it this messy look. It made him look even better.
Oh, how much I love and despise him at the same time.
I could easily murder him. There are knives in the kitchen. Lauren could help me cover all of it up. And if I get caught, I could say it was self-defense. Damn, I'm such a psychopath. See what you're doing to me, Johnny?!
I shook off my wild thoughts and took a deep breath before replying. "Yes?"
He didn't respond, but instead began walking closer to me. I just sat there, glaring at him as his face came clearer into my view.
He was a few steps from me. His facial expression was filled with regret- and pity.
"Lauren, why don't go upstairs and I'll give you dinner in a bit," I muttered, my eyes never leaving Johnny's.
I took my fingers out of my palms, reminding myself that there was already a mark there. I don't need to make it worse.
Lauren nodded, running upstairs with a smile on her face.
Once Johnny assured Lauren wasn't in the room, he turned back to me.
"I need to know, Kenz. Are you okay?"
I chuckled. No, I was not okay.
How could I be okay? My husband just had an affair.
I brought my fingers back into my palm, digging. I really have a problem.
