"I say we live like humans for today," I sigh, falling lazily to the ground beside the raven on the porch.

"It's only been a week since I've become your familiar, and you want to live like a human today?" the raven asks, genuinely confused and yet his tone of voice tells me he doesn't care.

To which I childishly stick my tongue out at him. "Yes, but do you see the stacks of paper filled from top to bottom; left to right with wishes I have to fulfill?"

Yuu's unusually long fox ears flatten, the golden rings within them clanking together to form a familiar melodic tune I have grown accustomed and quite fond of. In all honesty, his ears look like they were given to him to show off like a model- they're unnatural, yet real. They're probably as long as my forearm strangely enough, but are suited seemingly just for him. Perfectly they are a part of him.

"Stop procrastinating," he orders, holding no true emotion behind his words. I can't say I don't like his threats, though. They're cute and constantly remind me he's all bark and no bite.

Actually, he looks like he could have a nasty bite with those canine teeth of his. I wouldn't want to be his enemy. "Speaking of enemy," I say aloud in continuation to my thoughts he has no idea about.

"Hm?"

"I haven't seen you go at it at full power."

He seems to flinch at my comment. Just barely, but I notice it. "I don't really- I mean..." he stutters, fumbling over his words as he plays with his bracelet. I got around to wearing the green set a few days ago, which I think I was supposed to do from the beginning because both of our jewels brightened immensely and didn't look so dull. He deeply sighs, calming himself at last. "I don't hold that much power," he admits a little shaky in his voice. "I'm not really useful beyond burning things," he awkwardly gives a "sorry but it's true" type of smile.

I hum in reply in a mix of feigned boredom and disinterest. I know there's more to it than that, and his sigh of relief tells me so. I still let it go. Perhaps that would kick me in the ass later, but whatever. "So what do you want to do today then?" I ask, changing the subject as quickly as the next breeze of wind comes and goes like the snap of a twig; a snap of my fingers. Which sucks because it's so hot today.

Yu shrugs his shoulders as he sits on his knees like most always, with his back completely straight, hands in his lap, and ears perked as he stares out into the calmness of the first layer of trees of the forest literally thirty feet away at the most. If you're wondering...

I asked for solitude.

"I don't know what humans do," he lowly growls. At what? I have no idea. "Besides. I know next to nothing about anything and everything. I would drag you down."

I stand to my feet, his eyes following me as I rise. I offer my hand to him. "But it'd be fun," I assure, granting him a reassuring smile. "Besides, I want to get to know you and have you know your way around provided the wrong situation. Not only that, but it'd be great to have your help."

I can tell my smile has taken him off-guard, yet he reluctantly takes my hand anyway, and before he knows it, we're already in the city. I chuckle at his child-like confusion as he timidly observes his surroundings which include towering buildings; busy roads with speeding cars (even though they're actually going the speed limit); and plenty of people coming to and fro at different paces.

And then that's when I forgot about something...

His ears and tail.

The humans can see it.

At least, they should be able to. However, no one seems to notice or care.

Yu's turn to laugh at my own confusion, like honey to bees is the sound of his laughter- nearby girls will say the same. He points to my necklace, "It hides who we are. For me, it's my ears and tail. And like you, it hides my supernatural presence so no one will be able to know who or what we are."
