Crying. That's what wakes me up most nights. Alexys is adorable but girl knows how to cry. I got out of my bed and walked across the room to her crib. I picked her up and rocked her gently until she final fell back asleep. Didn't take too long. I put her back in the crib and wrapped her in her blanket. I stumbled back over to my bed and fell asleep until a few hours later when it was daylight.
"Good morning" I spoke in my baby voice to which she returned with a wave.
"Hungry?" I asked and she smiled. I lifted her out of the crib and held her on my hip taking her downstairs into the kitchen. I strapped her into her high chair while I prepared her bottle. I've been trying to switch her from breast milk to formula and she's taking the transition pretty well. She seems so well developed for her age. So smart. I got the bottle from the microwave and tested it to make sure it wasn't too hot before giving it to her. She likes to do it herself instead of having me do it. I got my own breakfast ready, just some cereal, nothing special. With the hour my mum came down making her own breakfast and heading off to work leaving Alexys and I alone per usual. My Dad is away per usual. As I was just finishing up my food there was a knock at the door. Probably just some delivery for my Mum.
"Hey" Ethan said as I opened the door
"Oh hey" I smiled and moved out of the way to let him in
"What're you doing here?" I asked
"Had nothing to do to day, came to see my niece" He said
"She's in the kitchen" I said closing the door behind him
"Mum at work?" He asked
"Yeah" I replied as I took my empty cereal bowl to the sink and began washing up
"I have a present for you" Ethan smiled at Alexys and pulled a small gift from his bag. Alexys ripped the paper off and revealed a baby tracksuit and t shirt
"Aw they're so cute" I grinned lookin at them as I sat back down
"I need to ask you something" I said
"Shoot" He replied
"I was talking to everyone the other day and we were talking about when I should tell Simon" I started
"I told them I'd do it soon but I'm not sure" I said
"I think you should, I can set it up for you if you want" He said
"Yeah but I don't know what I'd say, hey remember me, this your daughter, okay bye now" I said sarcastically
"No not like that" He laughed
"He'll be alright he's not the same as he was in Kilburn, he's more mature now." Ethan said. Boy, I hope he has.
