Let me see your darkness and I'll show you mine.

Tony had to force Evelyn to get out of the shower for the fifth time that day.

She hadn't stopped showering ever since she woke up, but he couldn't blame her.

She barely even spoke a few words to him, but she enjoyed his embrace, that much he knew.

Currently, she was laying on his chest on her old bed, tracing the outline of his scar, saying absolutely nothing.

He was thankful for that though because honestly he didn't know what to say.

His eyes were set straight on the hickeys on her neck, staring at them intently waiting for them to disappear.

"I'm sorry." He breathed out, his fingers in her hair.

"Don't be. It's not your fault." Her voice was hoarse and broken it killed him.

"I wanted you to marry me," he explained, "I know we should wait more, but it hurts me Evelyn."

"What hurts you?" She didn't face him, but inwardly she was glad that he was explaining why he had been avoiding her.

"Not knowing how you feel."

"What?" She leaned upward at that to make eye contact with him.

"You won't understand."

"Try me."

"You don't understand. You used to tell me that you loved me all the time, you used to say it so freely, and I don't know what scares me more, the fact that you won't say it anymore, or the fact that you no longer do." He shrugged, setting his eyes away from her distracting ones.

"Tell me there is no one else, Evelyn. Jesus, just tell me it's only me." He begged her, he couldn't contain this anymore, he had to know.

"There isn't." She added quickly, doing her best to soothe him.

"Tell me you love me even if you're lying. Just tell me you love me." He pleaded with her, never looking more vulnerable than he was right now.

"I love you...and I'm not lying." She placed her lips on his quickly, running her hands all over her chest.

"I love you," she shook her head slowly, placing kisses on her chest.

"Can I tell you something?" She gulped, peering up at him through her lashes.

"Anything." He nodded, stifling a sigh of relief.

"I love you. I have always been in love with you, Tony, but these are just words. You're worth more than just a
crappy I love you. You're worth everything. I have spent most of our relationship thinking that you have never loved me because you had never said those words.

I was blinded by that, and I refused to acknowledge anything else that proved that you did. You would sacrifice your time at the lab to spend some time with me, you would trash your suits when I feel the least bit lonely just cause you couldn't handle me feeling alone even if it was just for a while.
