Okay. Yes this is true. The book I'm talking about is On The Day I Died by Candace Flemming. SPOILER ALERT!!!! She isn't a big writer and most of the time I avoid Indie books and not very good books, also not very popular books . But there are some good and absolutely amazing exceptions to this like Temping Fate (I mean Temping!), Rose, The Doll In The Garden, Isabel Of The Whales, Homer Price.....lots more that I can't remember.......

But On The Day I Died is iffy.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!

This book is about a graveyard for teens and children, who after this one guy finds it, he gets to hear the ghosts tell their stories of how they died.

1. I thought it was going to be a holocaust book. I wasn't disappointed! But there are a lot of holocaust fiction novels and they populate schools and reading lists. They're still good though!

2. There was only an audio book available. I'm NOT an audiobook person. But it was still good.

3. The story was alright. I liked Carol Ann, that was a good opening. But why is it only boys who see her? How are her saddle shoes multiplying? Haven't there been any other guys like Mike? What happens when her mom dies? But it was good.

2. Some of the ghosts' stories made no sense. It took me 3 times to get Johnny's story. Rich's was really really hard to follow. David's was WAY WAY too fast paced. Tracy's also was too fast. A common writer's mistake is going too fast! You leave some stuff out. As a reader I had a hard time catching up. During some stories I didn't even try to replay it.

3. The Characters are amazing. You've got such a diverse cast and the ghosts have all been stuck with each other for awhile. They had never heard each other's stories before. The way Johnny reacted to Gina's, that was interesting. Edgar,Gina,Johnny,David, Evelyn,  Tracy, and a few more have got to be my favorite characters. But my favorite story is either Gina, Edgar, or Evelyn.

3. Some stories and characters were plain rip offs. Blanche from the books is exactly like Blanche from the Golden Girls! Just younger and from the 17th century! Also Lily's story is just W.W Jacob's classic The Monkey's Paw. Except Mr. White dies instead of Herbert! It was a total rip off, almost every detail. There were some parts I liked, but after the paw it was the same old story. Lily to be honest is a bit of a Mary Sue. Scott's was pretty cliche too!

4. The timing of the Deaths. You wouldn't have a kid who died in 2012 be in the same abandoned cemetery. That just ruined the abandoned part. You wouldn't bury a kid who died in 2012 in an old abandoned for decades cemetery. Some other kids besides Scott shouldn't have been there.

5. The stories were creative. Gina's, Tracy's, Johnny's, Rich's, and Edgar's almost really scared me. Almost. But the stories were brilliant, but hard to follow.

6. They would give you the death years, but it was hard to understand age. Not all of them are teenagers I think. The way Edgar is described, He sounds 14-19ish. But the way he tells his story makes him seem like a little kid at least 9 - 11. Maybe 13. I'm not good at math, so it would be easier to understand if the ages were listed.

7. Some interactions were off. Did the ghosts all know each other? Johnny and Tracy never talked but they were the most alike. Did something happen to them as ghosts? Could they have had a fight, friendship, romance? Also Evelyn talks about how she hates Blanche. Later you see Blanche is right there! How is she not interfering!?! Why weren't there any kids who died from the mental institution? Do the ghosts think Evelyn and Edgar are messed up? There are WAY too many plot holes and some pathetic interaction. Not all of it was pathetic though! I'm curious why Blanche didn't jump ahead to Mike, it was her character to do so!

It's an okay book. I would recommend it to Tweens and Slightly not Super scary ghost story fans. I mainly want it because of Gina,Johnny, Edgar, Evelyn, Blanche, Lily's heartbreak (even it is SOOO cliché, the voice actress for her did it amazingly!), Mike, Tracy and all the other colorful characters. It's a cool campfire book as well.
