BEEP! BEEP!

Katherine's POV

The alarm clock went off in my room 10 minutes ago. But, I still laid in bed looking up at the ceiling with my hands behind my head trying to debate was it really worth going to school today. All the while debating this I just had a deep feeling that something bad was going to happen. After the inner battle within I got up and turned off that annoying alarm.

After I got dressed, I made my way downstairs to see my brother and sister about to make their way out the door. They both turn to look at me walking down the stairs.

"What took you so long? We almost left without you?" My little sister Rebecca said with a hint of attitude in her voice. I forgot the other night Rebecca was telling me that she had a huge math test today and could not afford to be late.

"Well, I'm sor- .Hey! You going to leave me without a ride to school?!"

"Sorry sis but Rebbecca has a test and I have an early morning class." My brother Jacob says while shrugging his shoulders. My brother goes to the local college here in downtown Atlanta while living with us in hopes to save some money.

I sighed rolling my eyes. Really? I cannot believe these two they how I am in the morning. "Fine I'm sorry can we just go."

Eventually, we all got in the truck and made our way to school. Once we made it in the school my sister made a b-line for her first block math class to study a few more minutes before the final bell. I made my way to my locker to get the materials I need for class.

"Hey girl what's up?!" I turn to see my best friend Brittany Anderson, who mainly went by Bri. She had strawberry blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. She was wearing black skinny jeans with holes and a crop top that was a little too short in my opinion. Along with red high heels matching her crop top color.

"Hey, Bri...Uhm, two questions. One, why are you wearing that? Secondly, how come you have not been dress coded yet?"

"Well to answer your questions, my friend. I am trying to get Josh McClain to go out with me this Friday night." Bri had the biggest crush on Josh since the eighth grade when caught her from falling on her face in gym class. I still don't fully get why that pushed to a development of a crush on him.

"Oh, but I thought we were going to do a conspiracy theory video with Charlie today?"

Bri rolled her eyes. "Charlie is so caught up in aliens taking over the world or proving Bigfoot is real."

"Bigfoot is real. Have you not seen my YouTube video on Bigfoot sighting and proof cover-ups by the government." We both turn to see our nerdy and weird friend Charlie. Although he is nerdy he sure doesn't look nerdy. If anything he is a nerd disguised as a jock. He had curly brown hair and light brown eyes. He also has some muscles on his arms and a 6 pack. He told me once he had to be physically prepared for anything. Girls always try to get his attention but he is either oblivious to notice or he thinks they are interested in his conspiracy theories. For a boy so smart he is slow.

"Surreeee he is," Bri said while rolling her eyes.

"Anyway, guys I was doing my research like usual last night on anything out of the ordinary. Local reports say a few weeks ago in desert areas are strange signals being sent and a strange cluster of high heat signatures moving towards large populate areas."

"Ugh, Anything else?" Bri, ask sarcastically. I try to hold my giggle about how oblivious Charlie is to her uncaring attitude.

"Yes get this. There were also reports of the signal coming from space."

"Really?" I asked it kinda grabbed my attention a little.

"Yeah. We should all go to my house tonight to see what else we find." Charlie suggested.

"Well as much fun as that sounds I'm going to have to pass. I think Josh is finally going to ask me out tonight. Wish me, luck guys." Bri said while walking away. I turned to Charlie to see that he has a disappointed look. I knew he had a crush on Bri ever since the fourth grade when she asked him did he want to be friends with us. I felt bad for him I offered to ask Bri for him but he quickly shot that idea down.

"Why don't you tell her how you feel?" I ask snapping his attention from Bri's butt to me.

"You know I can't. Let's just drop it, please?" Charlie pleaded, his face turning red. I put my hands up in defeat. Lord, help this oblivious and slow boy.

"So are coming over tonight?" He asked, changing the subject.

"I can't I have to finish the 6-page essay paper for Ms. Briggs. That has to be submitted by Saturday at 3 pm online. Which I only have 3 pages done."

"Oh," Charlie put his head down disappointed.

"Hey, maybe if I have time we could Face-time tonight and go to your house tomorrow." Charlie smiled and agreed to it. Eventually, we made our way to class as the warning bell ringed.

*******

The school day went by fast and it was boring as usual. The teachers still annoying as crap. I mean seriously who gives a pop quiz on a Friday. Now I'm sitting down trying to figure out how I am going to finish this crappy essay. Write in the middle of me typing a sentence my phone rings. I see that is Charlie trying to call me.

"Hey, Char-"

"Go to channel 6!" Charlie said loud and fast.

"What? Wh-"

"Just go to channel six!" Charlie said then hung up. That was odd. I ran downstairs to see my sister watching "Stranger Things" and my brother reading on the couch. I quickly snatch the remote out of her hand and exited off Netflix to turn to channel six.

"Hey, I was watching that!" She yelled, trying to get it back.

"Hey look!" My brother Jacob shout looking at the TV.

Rebecca and I both turn our attention to the screen.

My eyes widen in complete shock at what I was seeing.

On the screen, it looks like some kind of spaceship hovering above our atmosphere. "Mom and dad come quick!" Rebecca yells.

Almost instantly footsteps coming from the direction of the kitchen.

"What's wrong?" My dad asked, looking around the room soon their gaze followed ours toward the TV screen.

The reporter began to speak saying, "Folks, I know this may be hard to believe, but there is what seems to be ... an alien spaceship hovering in the atmosphere, ladies and gentlemen." The reporters say in shock. "It looks like it is trying to find a place to land. Also, it seems the heat signatures and signals that were in the dessert are now surrounding major cities. Officials are warning all citizens to stay inside until further noti-"

Suddenly, all the power was in the house was instantly shut off leaving us in complete darkness.

"Dad," I heard Rebecca call.

"Everyone just remain calm. I'll try to find some candles." My dad assured us.

My eyes roaming the darkness my thought was still on that spacecraft. The spacecraft must have knocked out the power.

Without thinking it through I went outside to see if I can see the spaceship from here. While my mom tried to call me back in. My eyes widen as I look up and I see the spaceship just sitting up there like it was waiting for something. Soon the rest of my family were outside looking up to see the spaceship.

Little did we know our lives will change forever.
