The auburn haired thief walked over to the newest recruit and watched her from a distance, crossing his arms over his broad chest and smiling while she was being congratulated by a few thieves for the completion of a rather difficult mission. (Y/n) thanked and narrated her heroics until her gaze went to Brynjolf who was standing in a dark corner and would've been unseeable but still his subtle regal presence and the charming smile had made him stand out. When Brynjolf saw her gaze on him, he slightly flashed his eyebrows at her.
The woman slightly blushed and looked at her fellow thieves, excusing herself from them before she walked towards him.
"so, impressed yet?" (y/n) stood in front of him, crossing her arms and smiling triumphantly
"Impressed on what?" Brynjolf chuckled, acting oblivious to her return from Goldenglow "oh that? Pff, it's so easy lass, that I could go and get the lease from Aringoth in just a few minutes" he teased. The recruit frowned and was visibly angry "oh it's that easy right, well..." she took out the documents from her bag and threw it towards Brynjolf "keep your damn bill of sale, see ya ungrateful lout" she gritted her teeth and attempted to walk away from him.
Brynjolf chuckled and set the document aside before holding her wrist and pulling her towards him.
It seemed like in a blink of an eye the newest recruit found her back pressed against the wall and his dark eyes piercing into hers, his lips curled into a mischievous smile when he noticed the hint of pink on her cheeks.
"Brynjolf... what are you doing?!" she muttered
"Want my lips to tell you that I'm impressed, hm?" Brynjolf smirked, slightly nearing her, letting the tip of their noses touch
"Stop it, you're so damn childish" she chuckled, moving her head to a side
"I'm serious, would ya like that lass?" Brynjolf almost whispered and turned her face towards him again. (y/n) didn't say anything to that, he wouldn't do that now would he? The thief nervously laughed at him but she froze when she felt his breath caressing her face, thoughts began to storm in her mind as her heart began to race. While she was distracted in her mind, she felt their lips almost touch before she turned away at the last moment, resulting in him to kiss her cheek.
"Nope Bryn, I think you're going a bit too far" she said "I have to go" she stepped aside from him.
"No matter, I'll be around if ya need me" Brynjolf smiled and winked before leaving.
(Y/n) sighed and watched him leave before she headed towards Mercer.

Mercer didn't care about the newest recruit's accomplishment. The guild leader didn't even care to walk outside to her and at least say 'congratulations' to her in the most mocking or monotonous of voice. Oh but he knew that she would prance over to him like a peacock and have the smuggest of smiles plastered on her lips.
"Mister guild leader?!" That familiar voice happily said, poking her head in
"Speak of the devil" Mercer sighed and looked up from a letter he was reading, turning his head towards her.
"Lease. From Aringoth. Of Goldenglow. Bam!" she shouted and placed the documents on his table with the loudest noise. While she staring at Mercer happily, waiting for her well earned thanks from him.
Mercer didn't even smile, he looked like he had zoned out before he raised an eyebrow "hm" he momentarily slanted his mouth "oh... this?" Mercer mocked a gesture of applause "happy?" he said before picking up the documents from the table and flipping through the pages.
(Y/n) couldn't believe what he just did, her eyes widened in disbelief
"what is this supposed to mean?" she questioned
"You were looking for an applause and I did, why?" Mercer answered indifferently
"I had to kill a bunch of mercenaries who would've killed me if not for my stealth and had to deal with an extremely stubborn elf, and yet I get mocked by you?" she said, hiding anger in her voice
"Well you followed the rules, and I never said that Aringoth would be an easy fella to deal with, there you have it" Mercer smiled, waiting for her to be angry beyond bounds
"...I guess I'll wait for the next mission" she calmly replied and sighed, about to leave him alone.
Mercer was surprised, he expected her to curse and jump up and down in anger. Well not literally but he did wanted to see her do something in anger.
"Hold on (y/n)..." Mercer said, she looked back at him "return by evening, I might have a mission by then" he said
"Aye aye captain" she muttered and left.

By the evening, (y/n) was playing a game of cards with Brynjolf. Though she had won a few games and earned a couple hundred septims but by the looks of it she was about to lose her second game.
"I'm almost willing to bet that you're cheating Brynjolf" she muttered
"Then bet, fifty or hundred?" Brynjolf chuckled
"Nice try, I can bet a thousand on it and will win it" she chuckled
"Deal? You're gonna bet a thousand septims?" Brynjolf raised a brow
"Eh... I could—" (y/n) suddenly remembered that she was supposed to meet with Mercer. "I'll bet after I'm done getting the mission, see ya then" she smiled and gave Brynjolf her cards before standing up. Brynjolf took a look at the cards, before looking at her "you would've won if you kept playing" he said
"You say it all the time, maybe just to keep me around?" she giggled
"Maybe" Brynjolf chuckled and pulled her by her wrist, causing her to almost fall into him, she balanced herself by holding the back of his chair
"Not this again Bryn" she sighed
"Afraid? Of me? C'mon" Brynjolf rolled his eyes
"You think that you're very charming, don't you?" (Y/n) laughed
"How about you tell me?" Brynjolf smiled mischievously
"I could..." she whispered and neared him "but I have work... so not now" she stood up and waved at him before walking away.
Brynjolf sighed in disappointment and went back to his card games.

"Took your sweet time I see" (y/n) heard Mercer speak as soon as she entered the room. At first she thought that he was talking with someone else before noticing that no one was here except her and Mercer.
"Sorry I got a tad distracted" she apologetically looked at him, walking towards him.
Mercer stood by the little pool in middle of the room, watching the ripples.
"So I guess the Goldenglow mission was difficult?" Mercer started as soon (y/n) stood beside him
"Yeah..." she muttered, not really sure why he was bringing it up now
"Your hard work there is appreciated but I didn't want to get your ego up before confirming anything" he replied, there wasn't any emotion in his voice but it was clear that he was being genuine
"Mercer, I'm not really that bad you know... I may sometimes act like a total arse but it's not that I hate you or anything you know" (y/n) said, smiling at him
"Really?" Mercer chuckled, (y/n) was hearing a genuine laughter from him for the first time
"Are we friends then?" Mercer asked, smiling
"Yep, friends" she smiled back
"so I guess you trust me as a friend enough to stand by you, near this pool?" Mercer almost laughed
"Huh?" (Y/n) couldn't even finish her words before she felt a push on her back. The thief gasped when she saw that she was about to fall into the water, but then a strong grip around her stomach. By the time she looked, she found her back against Mercer's chest and his arm surrounding her abdomen like a circlet.
(Y/n) looked up, their eyes met as she stood in shock
"Or more than that?" Mercer whispered, tracing her cheek with a finger, causing her to shiver.
"M-Mercer... I-I... what..." she stuttered and looked for words, but Mercer smirked seeing her being so nervous under his gaze
"What? Are you not going say anything sarcastic?" Mercer teased "did I win again?" he gave her a throaty laughter.
The guild leader turned her around to face him before he snaked his arm around her waist
"Be careful of your heart, or else it will be stolen" he whispered in her ear, smiling smugly when he noticed that he had made her blush...
