Izuku has always been excited for his quirk, everyone else in his class had gotten theirs already! He's always so amazed when the other kids show off their quirks, even if some of them aren't that flashy or some of them being outright disastrous for the holder, it's still fascinating to see! He likes to think of what quirk he'd have and how he can use it, out of excitement he starts to write down about his classmates quirk

His classmates let him, practically sucking compliments off the sweet green haired child

Also, while it's true that on the day he'd develop his quirk he'll get a soulmark, he wasn't really too excited for that, of course he wants to meet them but on the off chance that the time wouldn't come, he honestly wouldn't mind, plus it might get in the way of his becoming of a hero! He's heard of people who are blank, they're a fourth of the worlds population today which is uncommon but not too uncommon that he'd be outcast if he turned out as one

After all, All Might was a blank too! He definitely didn't mind having the same status as the number one hero

On the day of his birthday, Izuku woke up, all drowsiness snapped away from his body in an instant once he remembered what day it is, he quickly got off his bed and jumped to open the light, he looks at himself in the mirror and tries to find out whether or not he has a soulmark or none, as he lifted his shirt up he couldn't fight off the smile that threatened to take over his face

On the upper part of his chest was a mark of an explosion with a black silhouette of a trophy with a ring around it in front, he remembers Kacchan showing it off in class, he even let Izuku poke it! However, his world shatters when he noticed that there was another soul mark on him, this time on the lower left of his chest, it was a mark of ice and fire clashing together, there was a small white flower in the middle

Everyone knows that in the off chance a person gets a second soulmate, there's very little chance of them ever getting a quirk whether or not they have the pinky joint, he remembers most of his classmates saying something about it once they started to realize that their quirk wasn't flashy or useful, they whine about how they would rather have two person loving them at the same time rather than whatever quirk they got

Izuku was about to hope that maybe he'd still get a quirk when he noticed mark on his wrist

It was a big red doth with fangs in the lower and upper part, representing a mark, Izuku frowned, there's no way he can ever get a quirk with this

Izuku wasn't sure at all what quirk he would've gotten but... anything would've been fine, he wouldn't care as long as he had a quirk because everyone knows that as long as you have a quirk, you can be a hero

If you're quirkless, you can't

He'd rather give up all his soulmates just to get a quirk instead

There's no chance of him ever getting a quirk now, he's not even sure of any of his soulmates would even like him, he heard that most people with two soulmark end up leaving for a blank because of quirk discrimination, he has a pretty good look of the future, especially since one of his soulmates is Bakugou, there's no way he wants to tell his best friend about this

"Hah? It would've been fine if you were quirkless but me being your soulmate?! Ew! You're too weak for me, stupid Izuku! I don't wanna see you ever again!" His mind healthily supplies, he bit his lips and tries not to let tears fall down his face

"Izuku?" His mother quietly opened the door

"Mom, you cover up something for me, please?"

Izuku was quiet in the daycare today, as expected, most of his classmates don't really know that it's his birthday, he never really shares it, except for Katsuki who keeps on glancing on him expectantly

"K-Kacchan.. I-I don't have a quirk and um.. I don't have a soulmark too..." he says with a sad look in his eyes

"What?! How are we gonna be hero duos if you don't have a quirk?!"

"I-I... I don't know-"

"Bah forget it! Don't follow me anymore 'Zuku or I'll beat you up! I'll just look for someone with a useful quirk, unlike you! Don't get in my way, you might infect them with your quirklessness!" The blonde said, huffing and walking away

Izuku frowned, he already saw it coming but.... it still hurt, but even though he doesn't like it, he'll stay away

I can't be a hero duo with Kacchan if I don't have a quirk...

He doesn't follow Katsuki anymore, he watches as Katsuki have fun with the other kids, every now and then Katsuki would glance at him, as if making sure Izuku was having fun while he plays with other kids, Izuku tries his best to ignore it but he can't stop the pout from appearing on his face

Still, he doesn't approach the blonde

Which is why he's very confused when Katsuki stomps to him angrily a week after

"Stupid Izuku! Why aren't you begging to be my friend again?!" He screams, Izuku tilted his head, confused

"What do you mean Kacchan? Didn't you want me to stay away?"

"I didn't mean it literally you stupid Izuku! Even if I did, you were supposed to ask to be my friend again!"

"W-What?! B-But But-"

"I keep looking at you because you aren't a-ap... appro.. because you weren't coming to me! You're so stupid!"

"B-But Kacchan looked really scary when he looks at me!"

"Y-You're such a useless Deku! Heroes don't look scary!"

"W-Wha.. what's a Deku?"

"Deku means useless, y-you can read your name like that, you're Deku!" Izuku nodded before he realized what it implied

"H-Hey I'm not-! I'm not useless!"

"Of course you are! You have no quirk or a soulmate! You don't know how to approach people! You're a Deku! You're a stupid Deku!" Izuku sniffs and starts to cry, Katsuki looked panicked

"M-My name isn't Deku! I'm not useless! I hate you Kacchan! I hate you I hate you I hate you!" He screams before slapping the blonde and running away

"W-Wha- Deku get back here! I'll hit you for hitting me!" Katsuki screeched, running after the green haired child

Izuku turned to an alleyway before tucking himself behind a garbage can, he hears Katsuki's footsteps getting close

"Just let me hit you and then we'll be even! Y-You're not stupid just let me hit you!" Izuku whines

"I don't wanna be hit by Kacchan! Kacchan is so mean!" Izuku yelps was Katsuki pushes the trash can off him, revealing him, he was crying

"K-Kacchan?" Izuku yelps when Katsuki slaps his cheek

"I'm not mean! S-So follow me again!"

"W-What? But Kacchan you told me not to follow you anymore!"

"I take it back, let's take a stupid adventure again you poopoo head! Come on!" Katsuki said, tugging Izuku

"B-But... don't you want to be friends with me anymore? I don't have a quirk..."

"Stupid, heroes protect weak babies like you! Even if you had a quirk you'd probably just cry infront of a villain or something!"

"Kacchan will protect me?"

"Of course, I'll be the best hero who protects everyone! I'll be stronger than All Might, so don't cry anymore, and stop calling me mean!"

"But Kacchan is mean!"

"Say that again and I'll hit you!" Izuku tears up, Katsuki panics

"O-Okay I won't! You're such a crybaby!" Izuku sniffs

"Thanks Kacchan"
