“
WHAT IN GOD’S NAME DID HE DO TO YOU?” Crowley asks me, watching cautiously as I stare at a crack in the dirty wall.
I don’t respond, unable to find the words. Instead, I look to my left ankle, which is now but a dull throb that I swear is healing rapidly. “Can you at least tell me how your broken bone is magically bearable?”
“I’m not human.” I answer quietly, not averting my eyes from the very distinct crack in the tattered wall. The jagged edges make their way from the mid-corner of the far wall, trailing up to the ceiling. It’s almost like a cracked gate into another dimension, like something could fall through as any moment.
“That’s news to no one, darling.” Crowley says sourly. “He told you something. Something you didn’t like. Something you know your moronic brothers would definitely not like. I’d like to know, especially since I saved your ass.”
“How did you know where I was?” The crack in the wall seems more menacing as the conversation picks up, and I feel an aching anxiety that causes me to turn away, instead shifting my gaze toward the demon. “Doesn’t everyone think I’m dead?”
“I’m Crowley.” He responds matter-of-factly. “That’s how I knew.” I watch as he pours himself a drink. “What are you?”
“How can I trust you?” I ask him incredulously. “You knew the colt wouldn’t work! You led us all to die!”
“I swear to you, Rowan, I was sure it would.” Crowley reasons, “And besides, I risked my life to get you out of there. Of course I could only find you once you got past the pesky warding.”
“Because you want something.”
“No-” He stops himself, shrugging, “Well, yes, actually.” I scoff and he points a finger at me. “Regardless, it serves your best interest. Your brothers have a shot at killing the devil but they can’t do that if he has you.”
“They have a shot?”
“Lucifer gruesomely murdered you to bring the horseman Death into the world.” Crowley says noticing as I cringe, “With his ring and that of the three other horsemen, they can open the door to his cage and shove his damned ass back in.”
