Dan wakes up groggy in the morning as his phone blares out his alarm. He could distantly hear his mother calling for him to get up too. Since he didn't have a car, he had to take the bus because she couldn't drop him off at school and then drive all the way across town to work.

He rolls out of bed and grumbles as he walks into his bathroom to go take a shower. The water was very hot when he stepped in and he yells so loud his mother came running into the open room.

"Mom get out!" He yells, covering himself with the curtain.
"It's nothing I haven't seen before! Are you okay?"

"I'm fine just go!"
She covers here eyes, "Okay, well I love you and have a good day at school, and remember to get on the bus, and-"
"MOM!!"

She leaves and Dan turns the water a little to cold and rests his head against the wall. Being a senior and going to school in the middle of the semester was bound to be a mess up, and it was totally embarrassing.

After the shower and putting on his clothes which included a black v-neck, blue jeans and his scuffed black converse, he grabs his bag and steps out the house to wait for the bus. He couldn't help it. His eyes wandered over to the house across from him where he saw the boy closing the door to his own house, flipping keys in his hand.

Great, he had a car. It seemed like every senior had one except him because all the cars he saw pulling out the driveways did not look like old people. The boy dressed nice. He had on a dark blue button up collared shirt with jeans and some dark blue converse, his hair and glasses contracted well with the outfit.

"Hey! Hellooo!"

His voice snaps Dan out his trance as he notices the boy waving at him from across the street. He was caught staring, he was sure of it. He keeps his head down. Where was the damn bus?

"Hey! Dan is it?" He calls.

Dan's head snaps up as he hears his name being called.
"Are you talking to me?" He softly calls.

He leans against his car, his face scrunched up in confusion. "I'm sorry? I can't hear you, but do you want a ride to school?"

What me? Dan's hands were shaking as he opens his mouth to answer. But then the bus comes in out of nowhere and blocks his eyeline of him. The doors open and he gets on quickly. There was barely anyone on except a few little kids, he goes all the way to the back and sits. The bus hisses as the door shuts and he looks out the window at the boy who just shrugs and smiles softly waving at him.

Dan just cuts his eyes away from him and sinks low in the seat, his heart beating fast and his cheeks burning red.

___

Dan's nose was almost touching his schedule paper as he tried to avoid the whispers and stares as he passes by the other students. He had Chemistry first and it was at the end of the 500 hall. This school had to many halls.

A bell overhead rang loudly and he got pushed with the sea of students in the direction of his classroom as they all scattered to their own classes. He stumbles into his door and was relieved that he was the first one in there.

"Are you new?" A woman asks, she had shoulder length hair and a bright smile.

"Yes,my name is Dan." He really didn't want to stand in front of the class.

"Well I'm Mrs. Simmons, if you want to slip into one of the desks into the back without being noticed that's fine."
She whispers.

Dan gives a sigh of relief and scurries to the back. Mrs. Simmons was now his favorite teacher. He hooks his bookbag on the back of the chair and keeps his head down, trying not to get noticed by anyone. The class progressively gets louder as more people come in and take their seats. Since he was sitting on the far end, he wondered who was going to sit next to him.

No. No way

He sits beside him and doesn't notice him. Dan tries to keep his head low so he won't pay any attention to him but Mrs. Simmons tells everyone to get out a clean sheet of paper so he has to move, and when he does the boy notices.

"Oh wow I know you! Dan right."

He freezes, like he always does when someone talks to him, but it was different because a cute guy was talking to him.

"Um.. *clears throat* yea that's me." He shakily takes out his binder and pencils and puts them on his desk avoiding his gaze.

His pale hand comes into his eye line. "I don't think we've officially met, I'm Phil."

Dan looks at it for a moment before shaking it and letting go quickly. He sees the boy, Phil wipe his hand discreetly on his pants.

Fuck. Were my hands sweaty? Fuck.

"N-nice to meet you." Dan chokes out staring at his blank paper.

"Yea, well how was the bus this morning?" He could hear the amusement in his voice.

"It was cool."

"Well anytime you need a ride don't hesitate to come across the street okay? I'm always there if you need me."

For some reason that made Dan's heart skip a beat. He just left the conversation drop after that and paid attention to the lesson.
