All around me is color and light,
I alone and black and white.
Black and white and shades of grey,
alone in the dark in the midst of day.

Nobody knows that I am blind.
Disguised in color, I give no sign.
I put out noise, I hide my mind,
I laugh and smile; they think I'm fine.

My heart is made of cardboard now,
Crumpled lump within my breast.
It cannot beat me life or love,
nor will it let me rest.

It rattles on, I rattle on,
in death among the living;
a putrid ghost of flesh and bone,
longing for forgiving.
