CHAPTER SIX
Divulge
⠀⠀⠀⠀My gaze fell upon Kira, who had been benched for the last two minutes. I felt bad for her, knowing that she was excited about playing tonight. I was able to hear the conversation between her and Coach from over here. Apparently she was suppose to pass the ball, not shoot it. Either way, she still managed to get a goal.
"Oh, come on!" Mason yelled as Devenford made another shot into the net.
The two of us shook our heads. I was doing my best at focusing on the game, as well as my friends.
"Wow, we're not doing so well tonight." Violet said as I did my best to ignore her.
Mason laughed, but I remained silent. I didn't trust this girl, or find her funny in the least.
"Lighten up, Jessica." She giggled as she slapped her hand against my arm lightly. I rolled my eyes away from her view, but smiled at her none the less to act like I was interested.
"Sorry. Just nervous, I guess."
"Don't be." She smiled back as something around her neck caught my eye. It was a necklace. It looked ancient due to the stained metal that hung around her. At the end was what looked like a medallion, a small button imprinted on the top. Maybe a locket?
"Cool necklace." I said, noticing that her gaze never left mine.
"Thanks. It's a piece of crap, but it's useful."
Useful? For what, strangling yourself in your sleep? I wouldn't be caught wearing that thing unless I was dead. Which is ironic, considering that if I did wear it, I'd be dead due to the fashion police shooting me.
The field was covered with lacrosse players, all of them rushing around to where ever the ball went. Liam was the one to eventually get it.
"Go, Liam!" Mason and I shouted out as I felt a rush.
Liam took off down the field. Every player was distanced away from him, seeming as though he'd definitely make a shot. A huge smile appeared on my face as Mason cheered on. Everything seemed to be fine, until I caught a glimpse of Garrett who ran straight towards Liam; a silver light flickering from his lacrosse stick.
"Liam!" I shouted while jumping out of my seat. No, there is no way Garrett is going to hurt Liam. No way!
Slam!
Before Liam had any chance of reacting, Garett had smacked straight into him, along with Brett who seemed to have the idea of defending. The three of them were flung onto their backs, the crowd gasping as it happened. I could hear the sound of bone breaking, much like the sound of when Liam broke his ankle.
I practically threw myself onto the field, ignoring Mason who was trying to stop me from going. I saw Scott and Stiles already rushing to Liam's aid, and decided to follow their lead until someone pulled me back when I passed the benches.
My arms were being held behind my back as I felt someone tug at me. The person turned me around, and I was greeted with the face of Kira.
"You can't go on the field." She mumbled as I turned around again to watch.
"But he's hurt!" I yelled. Staring onto the field, I could see Liam lying on the ground. I could hear multiple groaning from him and Brett. Scott and Stiles picked Liam up, the three of them standing in a mini circle away from everyone.
"He's fine. He's fine. He looks fine, Jess."
I pulled away from her grip slowly, doing my best at listening in on Liam's conversation with my two brothers.
