Tuesday
Today, I learn that he has a heart of gold.
I watch as an old lady got off of the train he was on.
Everyone walks right past the old lady and didn't think twice about her.
Not him.
He takes out one of his earbuds and gently taps the old lady's shoulder.
I watch his mouth move as he speaks to her.
She nods and I watch as her eyes form half-crescent moons on her face.
He smiles and has her hold his arm.
Great, now I'm jealous of an old lady.
I head down and exit over by the buses.
I stare in a spot where I could see him emerge and help walk her over to me.
Oh my god, He's walking my way.
I bury myself in my scarf.
The old lady stops him and puts up her hand.
She signs to him while mouthing her words.
Ah, she's deaf.
I watch him smile and bow to her.
"You're welcome." he mouths back and I watch him smile for the second time.
That ginormous non-drunken smile that bears all of his pearly white teeth.
It takes my breath away.
