You were still fairly new to this life, but you were taking it day by day by doing countless hours of research at your local library, trying to get some more knowledge about the new world you lived in.

"Linda thinks you've lost your shit, Y/N. You quit your job at the hardware store and all you ever do now is read all kinds of crazy in here and then come back to my place when they kick you out to close..." Kelly said, pushing your shoulder ripping your attention away from the folk-lore book you were reading. Her arm extended to you holding a coffee. "I know you haven't been sleeping well as of late, so I got you a triple red eye." She smiled and sat down at the square table you commandeered as your own.

"Thanks, Kel. I know, I just have to do this. I don't want to ever need saved again, you know". Sam's voice echoed in your head ever since that night, People like you... Kelly nodded, and you looked into her eyes noticing that she had something that she needed to say. "What Kelly?" You asked, leaning forward to her, furrowing your eyebrows.

She took a sip of her coffee, looking down and playing with the lid, "You know I love you and want nothing more in life then to see you happy and thrive." She paused finally looking up at you.

"Of course I do! And I love you too, you're my best friend!" You assured her. "What is it?"

"I need you out of my house by the end of the week. I think you should go see a doctor, Y/N. I-I mean you quit your stable job to come to the library and read about made up monsters everyday. Yesterday, I found a gun in the laundry room, a gun Y/N...and I know that it isn't mine, Y/N." She said irritated towards you. "You've gone crazy since you got jumped, that was months ago, you need to get over it already. You need help..."

You sat back in your seat, taken back from your best friend's words. You shook your head in disbelief, "I'm not crazy, Kelly. I just wish- I wish you could just understand. But you won't..." you paused, collecting your books and getting up from your chair.

"Y/N, where are you going?" Kelly called after you, concerned.

"I'm going to get my stuff out of your house." You answered back to her.

"Where are you going to go then? I gave you until the end of the week..." she followed after you outside, onto the sidewalk.

"I don't know, Kelly. But that's where my life is right now." You huffed and smiled, throwing your hand through your hair, "You think you know how life it, truly is and it turns out you don't."

"Y/N, it has been seven and a half months since that night and you sold your place just after it got all fixed, you became obsessedabout this...Y/N I'm just worried about you."

Your eyes began to water, this was you losing the last thing that you had from your old life and it broke your heart. You took a few steps backwards, hoping distance might lessen the pain you felt, "Then, I guess this is where we part ways." You saw a tear run down her cheek, "I'm sorry Kel." You whispered before turning on your heel.

You unlocked the house and tore through the room that you lived in, gathering your things as quickly as you could wanting to avoid seeing Kelly again, avoid that shit-storm of emotion you didn't want to weather.

You held your entire life in two bags grasped in your hands, your boots crushed the gravel underneath your weight with every step you took, breathing in deeply the cold, fresh air. You reached the bus stop, leaving the normal life you once knew behind and exchanging it for the life of a hunter, a new normal.
