Experts believe that breakfast is a very important meal that provides the body with energy for the whole day. Be scrupulous about what you eat in the morning, though.

Some foods are not recommended to be consumed on an empty stomach:

- Citrus fruits and their juice can cause heartburn and increase the risk of gastritis.

- Spices can contribute to the development of heartburn and stomach disorders.

- Carbonated drinks can cause increased gassiness and disrupt the metabolism.

- Green vegetables and the amino acids in them can cause heartburn and flatulence.

- Tomatoes contain tannic acid, which irritates the stomach.

- Pears' coarse fiber can promote bloating and abdominal pain.

Oats, cereal, honey, and nuts are excellent choices for breakfast.
