The Purest of Cullen's

A shocking fall

In pre-dawn darkness, the street hardly looks different than it did a decade ago. The lack of illumination from the street lamps gives it away first. At this time their glow should be yellowing the raindrops and casting a smudgy beam onto the black street. The cars are still there, waiting for owners that will never come. Perhaps they are still in their beds.

As Natalia walked down the street calmly she was suddenly met by the chilling sound of a man yelling for help causing her to roll her eyes knowing perfectly well that the person she had been looking for had been found.

Garrett was a patriot Carlisle and Natalia met on the battlefield at Yorktown, he was the most unlikely ally out of everyone they knew to help. Garrett and Natalia took a liking to each other at the beginning when they first met and became fast friends so the idea of sending over Natalia would be the best.

The blonde leaned against the wall as she watched the once Civil War soldier hold up a man by his neck.

"I hated the first British Invasion. And I hate the second one even more." Hearing this Natalia rolled her eyes at his behaviour and let out a sigh.

"Even the Beatles? Really, Garrett? Besides... don't you remember that I myself am British? Do you hate me too?" Looking over at the blonde that stood in the moonlight appearing like she was an angel the man couldn't help but grin at the sight.

"Old habits die hard, and who could hate someone like you doll face? I'm always there to make exceptions." Garrett replied with a teasing smile.

"Carlisle and I need your help." As Natalia said that Garrett slammed the man to the ground not even looking at him as he tried to drunkenly crawl away while yelling for help.

"Sounds interesting." As Garrett said that a small smile appeared on Natalia's face happy that he would be helping them.

"Help!" As the man screamed it made Garrett more excited, like the fact that he thought someone was able to miraculously appear and help him made his adrenaline jump.

"But first I'd better finish my meal," Garrett said as the man continued on with his cries for help which were later replaced by his gurgling and screaming. As he stood up and cleaned his mouth he appeared beside the girl in a matter of seconds with a teasing look.

"What is it doll face? The sight of human blood no longer makes you uncomfortable." Turning around on her heel Natalia started to walk away from the man shaking her head.

"No, I watched this happen too many times before and much more violently to make me uncomfortable." The comment from the blonde only made him smirk as he walked after her.

When the pair finally arrived over at the building Natalia was surprised to see how many different vampires were already at the house. How each of them was won over. Each was made to see. Carlisle was able to convince his Irish friends to make the journey to Forks. Although the Cullen's were grateful for their help, their thirst for human blood complicated the situation.

The nomads sent by Rosalie and Emmett were even more unpredictable. Especially Peter, who had fought alongside Jasper as a newborn. But thankfully all of them agreed not to hunt in the area.

As more vampires set foot in their territory, the more Quileute's turned. Their nature compels them to join the pack.

Natalia followed after Edward and Bella when she heard that Carlisle and Esme had finally returned with our last witness.

"How many came?" Carlisle asked the three teenagers in front of him.

"Eighteen. You have some good friends." As Edward said that Esme looked over at Bella and Natalia directing her question towards the two.

"And Alice?" When Bella shook her head it caused Esme to furrow her brows as she pulled the girl into a hug,

"Well, we'll all be on Aro's list now. Centuries on the run. That's what you've brought me. Some friend, Carlisle." The sound of Alistair's voice made the Cullens look back at the vampire who got out of the car.

"Alistair, come meet everyone," Carlisle said encouraging him to socialize with the rest.

"I already told you, if it comes to a fight, I won't stand against the Volturi."

"It won't come to a fight."

"I'll be in the attic." Not waiting for a reply from Carlisle the nomad jumped up into the building attic hiding in the shadows. Esme looked over at Bella with an awkward look while Natalia chuckled lightly.

"He's not a people person."

The Cullen's opened their house to many vampires, many with gifts of their own. Zafrina had power over the mind. She could make anyone see what she wanted them to. As Natalia stood with Edward and Bella in the woods with Senna and Zafrina Edward got a vision that he was back in the Amazon.

"If you weren't holding my hand right now, I could swear this was real." As Edward said that Natalia looked over at her brother and she couldn't help but chuckle at Bella's confused expression.

"I don't see anything," Bella said at the moment when Eleazer stepped into the view Zafrina took the vision of Edward.

"Edward, you didn't tell me your wife is a shield." When Eleazer said that Edward looked down at Bella still slightly struck by the vision while Bella looked over at her husband confused.

"What's a shield?" Bella asked.

"The ones I've met as so different," Edward answered his wife still faced by the visions.

"It's a defensive talent. It's why Edward could have never read your thoughts. It's why Aro couldn't and Jane couldn't harm you either." Natalia said answering Bella's question better than Edward did.

"You have a very powerful gift." Upon hearing Eleazer saying that Kate appeared with Carlisle, Carmen, Tanya, and Garrett right after her. Kate grabbed Bella by the hand and sent shock waves through her body but when she noticed that Bella was still standing and not showing any sort of pain she laughed impressed.

"Oh, yeah, she's a shield, all right. That should have put her on her ass." Kate said as she dropped Bella's hand and turned around when she heard Garrett speak.

"Or your voltage has been exaggerated."

"Maybe it only works on the weak." Kate countered and held out her hand in Garrett's direction causing Natalia to smile at him teasingly. Kate started to wiggle her fingers telling him to try it out on his own and Garrett's ego being too big for him he walked forward.

"Garrett, I wouldn't." Not listening to Natalia's warning he touched Kate's palm with his pointing finger and right when they touched he got shocked causing him to groan from the pain and fall to his knees before looking up at Kate with admiration.

"You are an amazing woman," Garrett said and Natalia looked up at Kate with a teasing smile as she saw the look the two shared. All of them looked away from Kate and Garret when they heard a pair of vampires running through the forest and the wolves running after them.

I know that compared to the last chapter this is very 'calm' But like my mother always told me.... It's always too peaceful before the storm hits ;)
