"You need to try harder."

Emerald is teaching me how to do more with my semblance. Apparently it can do much more than I thought. I am practicing my time loop. I use my semblance to change a person's perception of time. I make them perceive a second before or after the actual time. Taking this further I can create a time loop. The person will perceive the same loop over and over, but it won't work if they have an aura or their aura is inactive. Not useful in battle but I have to get better step by step.

"Right!"

I try once more. I activate my semblance and put more energy into it. I hold it for 5 seconds before I release the illusion. Just then the door opened allowing Cinder to come in. Cinder is in Mercury and Emerald's team.

"Good your here." She said. "I have a mission for you."

"Me?" I asked

"Yes, we need to infiltrate the CCT System Tower. We need full access in order to locate Roman."

"But that is illegal."

"Tonight's the dance there will be little guards. What's the harm if we don't get caught?"

As long as we sneak in and out undetected then it should be fine. The good does seem better than the bad.

"Why do you need me to come along?"

"With that new technique you're learning it'll be easy to get in."

"Okay I'll do it."

Dressed in all black with masks me and Cinder travel across some rooftops. We make it to a set of stairs leading to the tower. We hid behind a wall to avoid being seen. Cinder seems to be right about the low security as there is only one guard. I create the time illusion and we quickly get past the lone guard. We enter the building and are greeted with more security. There's no way I can get all of them in a time loop. As I am thinking of another way in Cinder approaches the guards.

"Excuse me, no one's allowed in this area."

To late... No point in retreating. Cinder continues walking.

"Stop!"

He fires bullets out of his gun. I extend my arm out to block all of the projectiles. Cinder takes hold of his arm and kicks away an approaching enemy. She then expertly throws the first guard into a pole. Then two more enemies appear wielding batons, one for me and one for Cinder. I deflect the blow and strike his arm forcing him to drop his weapon. I throw a kick towards his head which he catches. Frantically, I send my other leg up and push off him. To finish him off I land a powerful hit in the abdomen, knocking him out. I look to Cinder who was headed to the elevator already. I jog up to her.

"I thought we weren't going to get into any fights." I stated

"That was the plan, but always expect plans to change."

The elevator opens. Great more guards. We silently walk in and when the doors close Cinder makes quick work of the guards. The elevator doors open and we walk towards the control consoles nearby. Then through my earbud Emerald talks.

"A party guest is leaving."

Cinder sighs "Which one?"

"Ironwood." Emerald responds

Then mercury talks through our earbuds.

"Should we intervene?"

The other monitors in the room light up.

"No... we're done here."

As we start to walk away, the elevator doors open. We immediately hide.

"Hello?"

Is that Ruby?! Cinder rises from our hiding place and steps out toward Ruby.

"Excuse me? You know, it's not a masquerade party, so why don't you take off that-!"

Cinder produces a container of dust and sends shards flying at Ruby. Then battle ensues but is interrupted by the elevator opening again. This provides distraction to escape. We escape to the party. Cinder changes our outfits into formal wear to blend in and, we go our separate ways in the crowd. That was close. I am sure if Ruby saw me I would have been recognized. While I wish Cinder didn't fight her it sure did save me. I grab some punch to calm me down as I take a seat. I notice that I am next to Weiss. She seems disappointed.

"Hey!" I say

Weiss notices me. "Oh hello (y/n)."

"You look upset. What happened?"

"It's nothing." Weiss turns away from me.

"Come on Weiss we're friends. You can tell me."

Weiss looks like she is considering it. "It's just... I asked Neptune to the dance and he said no."

Oh... It kinda hurt when she said that, but no time to dwell on it.

"If he can't see how amazing you are then it's his problem Weiss."

She freezes up. "Amazing?"

"Yes of course. I didn't chose you as my rival for nothing."

"Well it still doesn't change the fact that I am sitting here all alone and with no one to dance with."

Hmmm...

"Well... You know I don't have a date either." I extend my hand. "Maybe we should dance together."

She considers it.

"Well I guess?" Weiss takes my hand.

I take her to the dance floor. My dancing is a bit rusty but it's enough and so we start a simple waltz. As we dance Weiss is avoiding eye contact with me.

"Hey you know it's rude to not at least acknowledge me."

"I am just admiring my work."

She continues to look anywhere but at me. I place my hand under her chin and tilt it so her head is facing me. Finally she looks at me. We make eye contact for the first time since we started dancing. Being this close I notice things I haven't before. Her beautifully shaped face. Her soft looking hair. Her eyes which are a piercing blue. Then the scar on her face.

"Hey Weiss? Where did you get that scar."

"Oh um. I was in a battle that went wrong. What about your arm."

"Sorry is it cold."

"No it's just been on my mind."

"It was an unfortunate event. I had some acid spilled on my arm. It was to damaged to save so... Yeah."

"Sorry if I brought up bad memories."

"Me too."

That certainly brought me out of my mood. We stopped dancing a short while after that exchange. I spent the rest of the night with Weiss.
