Chapter 28
Evie's POV // Best Song Ever
Beck is out on stage with ease, as always. He's smiling, addressing the crowd, and they're all screaming for him. I, however, am glued to my spot unable to move if my life depended on it.
I feel the terror that is written all over my face and I know that I have to do something to pull myself together.
I glance to the side of the stage where Niall, Liam, and Nora are standing as if they are my knights in shining armor. They each send me the biggest encouraging smiles, which is appreciated, but unless one of them can magically make words come out of my mouth their smiles wont do me any good.
I'm about to be laughing stock of the internet, and the downfall of this otherwise fantastic festival. Niall will breakup with me immediately. He can't be seen with such an embarrassment. He'll be a joke because of me. I'll ruin his career and his life.
I'm ripped from my thoughts when I catch Niall out of the corner of my eyes. He's motioning for me to take a deep breathe and I do as he says. He mouths 'You've got this' while I stare at him instead of the sea of people before me.
Come on Ev, you can do this.
I repeat every motivational quote I've ever heard to myself while Beck speaks.
"This festival, would not be a reality without all of you. So from the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you." Beck says, palm over his heart.
"Thank you to you, the fans. Thank you to all of our amazing artists, who showed off their talents this week. And I could not get up here and say thank you, without thanking this woman next to me." He says, turning to me.
Look alive, Ev.
I snap myself back to reality, covering my face in a smile even though my insides are in knots.
"If you didn't before this week there is a large possibility you know her now after a certain relationship went public this week." Beck teases and I laugh, glancing back at Niall who is all smiles. "This is Evie, she's my manager and partner-in-crime and made my crazy ideas for this festival a reality. I couldn't have done any of this without you, Ev. Thank you." He finishes, hugging me.
"Evie! Evie! Evie" Echoes through the crowd as people start to chant my name.
I laugh, looking at Beck who joyfully joins into their cheering. My cheeks are burning. I've never had this much attention on me ever. I don't think I like it.
"Thank you!" I say to the crowd that dies down as I begin to speak. "And thank you Beck." I nod to him.
Just say what's on your heart, Evie. Say what you feel. This week was amazing. Pull from that.
"I've had the pleasure of working for Beck for the last year or so. I pretty much got hired, came to work the next week and he said 'I want to launch a music festival, here's my idea, how can we make it happen?' And somehow we did it." I laugh.
