___

"you'll be fine, it's just a school"

"yeah a school filled with people who have no idea i'm a fucking demon"

"care, you're not a demon, you're supernatural. and don't use that word, you're too young "

"same difference, and fine dad"

steve threw his head back in annoyance at his younger sister as he pulled into the schools parking lot. he sighed and placed his foot onto the break as he stopped in front of the school

caroline looked at the tattoo on her wrist then back at her brother

"i need to cover it" she said, a nervous yet a snappy tone filled her voice

"oh right, uh, will this work" steve hesitantly responded, grabbing a dark blue bandana from the center console of his car.

caroline nodded kindly and tied the blue bandana around her wrist, she looked up to see kids surrounding the entrance, and she knew she couldn't just go invisible and unnoticed

steve could always sense the girls fear, she wasn't even his real sister, but he had grown deeply connected to her. "hey, you'll be okay, trust me"

"i trust you" caroline said, taking a deep breath, opening the car door, and letting her dirty white shoes hit the pavement of the parking lot

steve handed her a yellow backpack, she grabbed the left shoulder strap and nodded, slamming the door and turning on her heels to face the one and only hawkins middle school

it was 3rd period and caroline hadn't met anybody new, but she certainly didn't go unnoticed. she was halfway through her day and highly thankful for that. her next class was science, and she had the gut feeling since steve left her earlier that morning that everyone would be staring at her, the new girl.

she walked into the class, following a group of students, hoping it would disguise her enough that she could just find a seat in the back and stay hidden. but it didn't work

"ah, these must be our new students"

caroline looked to her left to see a redhead next to her, almost doing the same trick of following the crowd. caroline was intrigued by her, but the redhead didn't seem like the friendly type

the redhead started to walk quickly to a seat in the back, and caroline nodded at the teacher then quickly followed, turning down one of the rows of students who seemed utterly bored, but couldn't take their eyes off her

caroline stopped and turned to the sound of her teachers sharp, but kind voice as he said "all right, hold up there. you two don't get away that easily. come on up, don't be shy"

caroline shuffled to the front and stood next to the teachers desk, quickly joined by the redheaded girl. caroline's eyes moved to the teachers desk, to read Mr. Clarke on a small sign, then to the redheads eyes. the two girls locked eyes until the sound of mr. clarke's voice startled them
