Before Kai could answer, a doctor came up to me with a nurse and a young boy.

They checked my vitals and ran a few tests, but this interrupted my train of thought and observations on Kai.

"She's all good. We will keep her for a few days under observation and then she will be free to go. But, since she had trauma to her head, we will need to run an MRI."

"Umm.. excuse me... Dr..." I look at the name embroidered on his coat. "Sanchez. What's the date today?"

"Before I tell you, can you answer that question." The doctor quizzes me.

I think about how long I could have been out for.

A couple weeks? The last time I remember was when Kai transferred in mid-April and a few weeks later, I had a dinner with my parents.

"It should be sometime in May."

"What year is it?" Kai asks me. He knows I look confused to see him here.

"2018 right?

"It's 2028, mom." The little boy speaks. Wait what? I was out for a few months.

Before I could process everything, Dr. Sanchez looks at Kai and brings him to a more secluded place to talk.

Meanwhile, I turn to the boy.

"What did you just call me?"

"What did you just call me?"

"Mom," wait I had a kid now? "I know you aren't feeling well, but can I hug you?"

I reach out and give a small smile. I was a sucker for cute kids.

"Mom, I hope you get better soon."

"What's your name?" If I had a child in the future this is exactly the type of kid I'd want. Cute, respectful, and not a handful.

"My name is Jae Son Yu." He says and brightly smiles.

"Yu... so you must be related to Kai." I ponder to myself aloud.

"Kai...? You mean daddy?"

"Yeah. What's Kai-your daddy doing here?"

"He is here to take care of you until you get better."

"What do you mean?" I ask confused. But before that cute little Jae Son could tell be more Kai walked back with the doctor.

"JC, thank goodness you are fine!" He exclaimed. What was weird was that he called me JC. Only Ignacia called me that.

"JC?" I whispered, but before I could say anything, Kai's lips met mine.

I didn't imagine for my first kiss to go to him, but I didn't mind. My stomach was filled with butterflies and when we finally pulled apart I saw Jae Son covering his eyes with his fingers.

"Umm..." as much as I enjoyed that I felt guilty. He had a ring on his finger which meant he was probably married. "You're married." I exclaimed without much thought.

"Yes, now look down at your left hand." To my surprise I see a ring that looks similar to his.

"So...we're married?!" I wanted to be calm but my voice escalated very quickly.

"Yeah, and that's our son Jae Son." I wanted to smile, but I was confused as to how I got into a contractual relationship with Kai.

"But, he looks like you." I was clearly confused. I thought I would have adopted a child, and if this child was adopted there was an uncanny resemblance between the two.

"And he looks like you." He said cheekily like I was missing something obvious.

"So, he's our biological son...?" I ask stupidly.

His facial expression suddenly changed to a serious tone.

"I might need to call the doctor again because your IQ dropped close to the negatives."

He tries to continue the serious face, but when I slap his chest he just laughs.

"But, Kai, I need to know something. Why do you act like Ignacia?" I mentally slap myself for mentioning it. How would Kai know Ignacia?

"Because I am Ignacia..."

"What?! Is this some sort of prank on a patient? How can you be Ignacia, Ignacia is dead!..." wait a second. Why did I say that Ignacia was dead? He was sitting right beside me a few moments ago... Did something happen that night?

"You're starting to remember JC." He smiled warmly.

I became more afraid of the future.

Do more people die in my life?

Will I be lonely always?

"Don't worry JC, no one else had died in the ten years you can't remember."

I sigh in relief. For some reason, I didn't feel sad. I felt a tinge if pain in my heart, but with Kai here, it didn't feel too bad.

As I was lost in my thoughts... Kai gave me a look that ran a shiver through my spine.

Why hadn't I noticed that he was this hot?

And why did my heart beat so fast for him?

I guess the future me didn't maintain the contractual partnership that was planned.

"When you get discharged in two days, I'll tell you our story, but right now I need to prepare you to meet your future friends, Ethan, his wife, and your parents tomorrow."

Someone else might find what he said weird, but it made sense to me. They couldn't know about my memory loss or they would make a big deal.

"Okay, for starters. You are a successful hospital chairman who is a scientist and discovered a drug that increases neuroplasticity. You have the patent rights so I guess you could say you made it big. You do participate in surgeries but-"

Wow this was a lot to take in.

"Before you go on, can you just tell me your background? The last thing I remember is being your research partner. Don't tell me we become a modern day genius couple like Marie Curie and Pierre Curie." I mean if I could be a rich billionaire in the future, then something as out of the world as a future Nobel-prize winning couple could happen again.

He laughed and his face turned a pink shade.

"No, I continued research on micro-expressions and I decided to intern under Paul Ekman. After that, I developed more software t help with national security and criminal court cases. I also passed the Bar exam and get a few cases here and there."

The coincidences were weird. He had the research side of Kai, but he also had skills like law knowledge and software engineering skills like Ignacia? Things just get weirder and weirder.

"Anyway, back to you. Where was I...?"

I filled him in on where he was and he continued to tell me everything about myself. Eventually, I began to doze off.

Kai kisses me on the forehead and whispers, "J, remember, memories are not forgotten, they are just temporarily sealed."
