The Calm Before 

...

"You're actually telling me that you've got a boyfriend-"

"He's not my-"

"And you're staying in a hotel this week, even though you have an apartment-"

"I'll stay in the hotel for the first couple of nights, I just-"

"It's not like the apartment misses you, or that your best friend misses you-"

"Oh my god would you stop being so dramatic-"

"Bitch don't talk to me about dramatic YOUMOVEDTOKOREA!"

My head snaps around to meet my blonde friend's gaze, her irritation evident in the way she rolls her eyes and sighs out of the window of the moving taxi. I narrow my eyes at her, "Are you doing that thing that you do where you're all defensive because you're actually sad, and you don't want anyone to think you're weak enough to feel sadness?"

Jungwoo's eyes drift between the two of us, watching the exchange with bewilderment.

"... I don't do that."

I sigh, sitting back and crossing my leg over my knee, "Well, if you hate me this much then... I guess I brought all that authentic home-made kimchi for nothing."

Her eyes flicker up to meet mine, "I'm sure we can come to an agreement."

Scoffing at her, I turn my focus out of the window, Tower Bridge passing by in the distance. "So, how's the hospital?"

Luise looks down at her nails nonchalantly, "Oh yeah, being a doctor... I don't do that anymore."

My neck nearly snaps as I jerk my head around, "... WHAT?!"

She shrugs, "What? You left, why cant I?"

Frustration bubbles up in my chest, "I left because I- "

This time it's Jungwoo that butts in, "Luna." He flickers his eyes to the taxi driver while reaching into his blazer pocket, which causes me to sit back and close my mouth shut.

I watch him take his phone out and press down on the screen a few times before I feel my own device vibrate next to me, "I've just sent you my itinerary, I'm meeting with some friends and business partners throughout the week." He turns his gaze to Luise, "You can have her when I don't."
