I'm the regal Queen, the Regina, all hail me. Yet, right now I'm deflating, waiting for more bad news I can't control. I raise my hand prompting him to speak. Toran seems anxious of what he has to say next.

"This insufferable whelp!''

'Patience,' I remind Crest. I'm sure the doctor felt the shift of power in the air from Crest's outburst. With an unsure voice, he finally speaks. "My..Regina, the bond has gone unstable. You need to immediately locate and reject your Given."

"I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD  ON A DAMN PLATE! I DARE YOU TO REPEAT YOURSELF!"

Crest was clawing  and roaring in my head. Undoubtedly this will later cause a headache. Again, I wave my hand urging him to continue.

He gulps, obviously intimidated by the malice in the air. "I believe, my Regina, he could purposely be trying to hurt you. Or he's gone unstable and needs to be...to be..." I can feel his well-meaning gaze intensify.

Sitting up straighter, I interrupt him. "I see, you may leave now." With a bow, he hightails it out of the room. Crest roars enraged, tearing at her confines.

"Our Given has not gone insane! Find him NOWWWW!"

Her command sends shivers down my spine. There's immense power oozing out at her displeasure. 'Crest, I..okay..'  I was about to object and go over the actual possibilities, but..Crest needs this. I just..I feel outraged by this.

The bond must be playing its tricks on me now. I'm twenty now, Crest came to me at fourteen. So I've had six years of feeling nothing. Yet now, I can't forget the pain I've just suffered.

I shake my head as I sit up and unplug myself from the heart monitor and whatever the other stuff is. Ignoring the now flatlining, I slowly make my way to the balcony and swing the glass doors wide open.

My lungs gratefully take in the fresh air. I look out towards my domain of expanding mountains with houses spiraling around them; flight decks on each according to the building code. My gaze goes further down to the twinkling streams below that stretch out to a greater body of water.

If someone didn't know better, they'd think this was the long-gone Garden Of Eden. My mansion like castle lies on the top of the highest mountain overlooking everything else. Pride in my land, and people, swell within me and Crests hearts. Our land is like no other. It's a true paradise, a safe haven.

Which, don't get me started on what a delicacy the soul purifying air is. Slight whiffs of the far-out sea mingling with the honey and flowers of the fields. With one last breath, I head back inside and go to my study room.

Like I had asked, there was a flash drive on my desk. Quickly I sit down, open the computer, and plug the flash drive in. Once I sign in I'm good to go. I print everything out. It's easier for me to think and sort when it's printed.

Every piece of information, down to the last letter says nothing at all about harboring a dragon. No evidence or suspicions... He could be kept a secret away from prying eyes easily. With a grumble, I look back to the statistics report.

An average of eighty-seven members per pack. Of course, there are exceptions like the Star Howlers pack which is a hundred and sixty-nine members. Or the Night Shiner pack which is only twenty-four members. Well, I suppose they even each other out.

The average of land owned per pack is twenty-two square miles. What, that's so small. That's like the size of a mediocre city.

"Can't top our thousands."

I can tell she's gloating, but she's right. Their land is so small! 'I had no idea.'

"Finding Given is becoming easier."

'I hope it stays that way.'

An attendant comes in through the open doorway with a breakfast platter. He places it on the far corner of my desk. "My Regina." With that, he disappears down the hallway. Shortly after he left, Beval, Abasi, and Cato come in, Cato leaving a trail of chips.

"My Regina." They say combined. Except for Cato, for him it comes out a little odd due to his snack filled puffy cheeks. Bowing isn't necessary for my substitutes, so they skip the unnecessary formalities. A small smile creeps up at their obvious concern for me. I wave in acknowledgment at their greeting.

The Givens Abasi and Beval look at me sadly, skipping saying the dumb 'are you alright' 'can we help' 'what happened', because they understand the situation, to some extent anyway. Cato, on the other hand, has this far away look with an unreadable expression.

With a kind smile, I address them. "My companions, this blood of mine is too thick for water to dilute." Meaning, my strength outweighs what stacks up against me.
