As I sit in my kitchen,
embracing warmth from a mug
that once had your fingers
tightly wrapped aroundI close my eyes and press
lips where yours had touched
just to feel you close againLet the taste of coffee bring
me flavoured love notes
that unfold like origami cranes
meant to fly only in imaginationThe taste of cinnamon settles
like whispers upon my tongue
hinting what could have beenI sip remorse from this cup
of past I pour each morning,
after the absence of your touch
settles like snow fall upon my
flesh landscape before sunriseSwallowing ever so slowly
the warmth of our memories,
leaving a hollow behind
