As I sit in my kitchen,
embracing warmth from a mug
that once had your fingers
tightly wrapped around

I close my eyes and press
lips where yours had touched
just to feel you close again

Let the taste of coffee bring
me flavoured love notes
that unfold like origami cranes
meant to fly only in imagination

The taste of cinnamon settles
like whispers upon my tongue
hinting what could have been

I sip remorse from this cup
of past I pour each morning,
after the absence of your touch
settles like snow fall upon my
flesh landscape before sunrise

Swallowing ever so slowly
the warmth of our memories,
leaving a hollow behind
