You had known Arthur for a while now. You met Arthur when you were both 11, after his father's arrest and you knew him when you were both 15 and he met Dutch Van Der Linde and Hosea Matthews. So you knew him for four years, and you were best friends. You remember when Arthur told you about the men named Dutch and Hosea, you were unsure about the whole thing if you were being honest. Arthur is your best friend and still young, you didn't know whether you should trust these men.

Still, Arthur took you to meet Dutch and Hosea since they were practically his adoptive fathers and he wanted you all to like each other. You were weary of Dutch and Hosea at first but actually grew to like them. They were kind and polite, they were giving Arthur a place to live and even offered a place for you but you explained that you lived a very different life to them. Your family weren't outlaws, they were normal members of society.

You both spent your days in their camp or adventuring among the trees nearby, and Dutch quickly loved you both. He even began to see you as he saw Arthur.

Everything seemed fine, you were both happy, but then the day came when the men had to leave. After all they were outlaws, they couldn't stay in one place for too long.

You had walked to their camp, like you did every day, but this time you saw them packing up their things and you frowned. When they saw you approaching Dutch and Hosea sighed, both knowing that neither of you were going to take this well, and Arthur could barely look you in the eyes. The young boy stopped what he was doing and hurried over to you, grabbing your hand and pulling you out of the camp. You both walked sadly to your favourite spot by the river, where Hosea had taught you both to fish and you and Arthur used to skip rocks on the water.

You both sat down at the river back and you turned to the boy. "What's going on Arthur?" you asked, already knowing and dreading the answer.

"Dutch says we have to leave" Arthur told you, looking down at his lap because he couldn't bring himself to look at you.

"Why?" you asked, your voice cracking already.

"Some men found him, it's not safe here anymore" he explained, shaking his head and wishing that things could be different.

"But...you can stay...right?" you asked, clinging to any hope that you had for him to stay.

"I-I guess...but they are my family now" he sighed, finally looking up to meet your gaze.

"...then what am I, Arthur?" you scoffed, not sure how to feel. It had been you and Arthur against the world for so long, getting into trouble together, you weren't sure whether you should be offended or not.

"You should come with you, Dutch said that you can if you wanted too" Arthur smiled, taking your hand in his and looking at you as if he was begging you to go with them.

"He did?" you asked, actually rather surprised but in a pleasant way.

"We can run away, like we always talked about" he smiled sadly and you could feel the tears brimming in your eyes. You had always talked about getting some money and just running away together, but those were childish dreams. Weren't they?

"Arthur...I can't, my parents would be worried sick. You could stay, I'll ask my parents to find you some work" you tried to reason, needing him to stay with you.

"I can't do that Y/N...it's not who I am, this is all I know" he reminded you and you knew that he was right.

"So what? This is the last time I'm going to see you?" you asked, looking away from him and staring into the water in front of you.

"We are leaving tonight, after sun down" your best friend told you, making your break catch in your throat.

"I'm going to miss you...a lot" you admitted, allowing yourself to cry when you felt his arm wrap around your shoulder. You leaned into his and rested your head on his shoulder.

"Not as much as I'm going to miss you" Arthur confessed, resting his chin on the top of your head.

You both sat at that river for about an hour before Arthur had to return to packing up his belongings, now you were both standing in front of each other knowing that this was goodbye.

"So I guess that this is it..." you sighed sadly, looking down at your feet.

"Goodbye Y/N..." Arthur whispered, cradling your cheek and lifting your head to look at him.

"Goodbye Arthur" you smiled sadly, tears brimming in your eyes as you stood on your toes and kissed his cheek lightly. You gently squeezed his hand before reluctantly turning around and walking away, all Arthur could do was watch you leave with tears in his eyes.

The air in the camp was think when Arthur returned and began packing his things in silence. Neither Dutch nor Hosea knew what to say to him that could make him feel better, they knew that only time could heal these wounds. The men did promise him that you could go with them if you wanted to but they realised that you weren't coming when they saw the look on Arthur's face.

The three outlaws had finished packing and were loading there things onto the wagon when they heard the sound of footsteps behind them. They turned around expecting to see some lawmen or something similar, but instead they saw you.

You stood in the now empty camp with a bag in each hand, tears in your eyes and a small smile on your face. You were so thankful that you had caught them before they had left.

"Y/N...what are you doing here?" Arthur asked, stepping away from the wagon and walking towards you.

"I want to come with you...if you will still accept me" you smiled, glancing over at the older men with pleading eyes.

"'Course we will, throw your bags on the back" Dutch smiled, loading the last thing onto the wagon before walking around to the horses, where Hosea was already standing.

"Are you sure about this?" Arthur asked as he stood in front of you, looking down at you with hopeful eyes.

"I've never been more sure about anything. Arthur...this camp was the place where I felt the most happy, this camp has been the place were all my favourite memories are. Arthur, you are what makes me happy. I promised you that I would run away with you one day and I don't break promises, Arthur" you assured him, making him smile like an idiot.

You dropped your bags when Arthur's arms wrapped around your waist tightly and almost lifted your feet off of the floor, you just laughed as you wrapped your arms around his neck. He buried his face in the crook of your neck, still smiling widely, and you smiled just as widely into his hair.

Dutch and Hosea smiled at each other before climbing onto the wagon, getting ready to leave. Once you and Arthur pulled away from each other, he picked up your bags and loaded them onto the wagon for you.

That night you rode away with Arthur, Dutch and Hosea, and you didn't look back. You rode through the night, and you didn't even know where you were going. Arthur smiled at you as you rested your hand on his, your fingers slowly intertwining with his.
