THE Christmas holidays were always Liana's favourite time of year, ever since she had been a child she had always found everything about the holidays magical, from the glistening twinkle lights to the roaring fires that blazed strongly in the Gryffindor common room. Christmas day had been spent with her and Grey whiling out the hours in the Hogwarts kitchen and drinking far too much butter beer for their health and had ended with Liana slipping into the common room to open presents in the evening, just before the day was over.

She hadn't spoken to Ron or Harry all day, despite the fact that Christmas was supposed to be about forgiving and moving on, that's what her mother had always taught her. She had thought that she and Harry would be on better terms recently, even if she had turned down his invite to the Yule Ball but it appeared not.

Harry had sat at the other end of the school table during Christmas dinner and even when Liana smiled at him or waved when they came into contact that day, Harry just looked away quickly, his face unreadable.

"I think you should at least try and give him his present, sometimes Harry just needs a little push in the right direction," Hermione advised. The two girls were sitting in the girls dorms, surrounded by empty mince pie wrappers, torn wrapping paper and they had even pushed their beds together to make one giant four person bed to sprawl out on. Liana giggled, the amount of butter beer she had had was going to her head slightly.

"You think?-" she asked, reaching slowly to the end of the bed where Harry's wrapped gift rested. She had already given the others their presents that morning but had held out on giving Harry his. It was a new pair of Seeker gloves for quidditch, beautifully wrapped in red paper and tied with a ribbon.

"Definitely, it's Christmas after all," shrugged Hermione, pulling out the new book Liana had given her, entitled: Elf rights, the good, the bad and the ugly truth.

Liana grabbed the wrapped present and clambered out from the mess of blankets on the beds, pausing slightly as she reached the door.

"What if he doesn't like it?-" Liana asked Hermione with doubt, her bottom lip sticking out slightly as she brushed a red curl behind her ear.

Hermione rolled her eyes, she wished Liana and Harry could just figure out what was going on between them. She already suspected Ron was up to something to try and get Harry and Liana to admit their feelings for each other, but Will had slightly complicated matters.

"If he doesn't like it, just slap him," advised Hermione shortly.

Liana snuck out the door and padded barefoot across to the other dorm staircase where she slipped up silently, not daring to stamp about enough to wake up Fred or George. When she pushed open the door softly, she made eye contact with Harry at once but to her disappointment, Harry had looked away and began to fumble for something under his pillow.
