Unsurprisingly, nobody but Biana, Linh, and Tam volunteered to open their matchmaking lists. So,  basically, everyone sat in silence staring at everyone else, hoping that somebody would volunteer to open theirs.

Biana groaned and put her head in her hands. "Ugh!!! Why don't one of you just open your darn matchmaking list now already!!! I fell like it's been 2,000 years!!!!"

I checked the clock. "Um...Biana, it's been 12 minutes."

"Exactly!! 12 minutes without talking!!!! You try that!!!"

"I agree with Biana," Linh said.  "Somebody open your matchmaking list!!" Linh narrowed her eyes and grinned mischievously. "Unless you guys are all cowards?"

Dex raised his hands. "I'm fine with being a coward if that means that I don't have to open my matchmaking list yet."

Tam sighed. "Not the point Dex!"

Linh started talking again. "So...are the rest of you all cowards too? Fitz? You a coward? Sophie, what about you, huh? And Keefe, are you a coward too, even after boasting about how brave you were for such a long time?"

"Yeah, Keefe!" Tam said. "You scared? Is little baby Keefe scared? Does he want his daddy?" Tam said in a mocking baby voice.

Keefe crossed his arms over his chest. "Really Bangs Boy? Face it, you wouldn't have opened your matchmaking list if Biana hadn't told you too!"

"Listen," I said. I had to break up this fight before one of them killed the other. And, as much as they were both annoying sometimes, I didn't want either of them to die.

"How about...we take a democratic vote?" I asked.

"What's that?" Everyone asked at the same time. I sighed. Elves. They knew so much more stuff than humans, yet they still haven't come up with democracy yet. That was disappointing.

I sighed. "It's a human thing."

"It doesn't involve kissing or sharing personal secrets does it?" Dex said nervously.

"Hope so," Keefe said, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Hope not," Fitz replied shuddering. "No kissing. No truth-telling. No dares. Happy life."

"It's nothing like that!" I said. Dex looked visibly relieved while Keefe was pouting by sticking out his bottom lip.

"So...what is it then?" Biana asked.

"Basically, you vote for things. And the thing or person with the most votes wins.," I explained.

"Oh!" Dex said. "We did a democratic vote when we were deciding what game to play!"

"That's right Dex!" I said, nodding.

Linh snickered. "Sophie, you sound so much like a teacher!"

"A really positive annoying teacher," Tam added.

"Sorry," I said. I hadn't wanted to sound like a teacher. After all, my own experience of teachers hadn't been exactly satisfactory. I shuddered, thinking aboy=ut the teachers back in my human area.

"I VOTE FITZ!" Biana said, pumpng her fist in the air.

"NO!" Fitz said.

"TOO LATE!!!" Biana said. "IT'S A DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!"

"I vote Keefe!" Tam said. "That would be funny."

"I vote Foster!" Keefe said, smirking. I glared at him.

"I vote Keefe!" I responded back. Tam snickered. Keefe glared at him.

"I vote Sophie!" Fitz said. I glared at him and groaned inside when he flashed his amazing smile at me. Keefe or Fitz. I thought again. The question was pestering me.

"I vote...um...I don't know. Dex I guess?" Linh said, making it sound like a question. Please like Dex. I thought before I could catch myself. Please don't like Fitz. Or Keefe. I found myself thinking.

"I vote Sophie!" Dex said smiling at me. He clearly thought that he had done me a favor. He did not do me a favor, but I responded back with a grin to him anyway.

"It's decided!" Biana said. "Sophie will open hers!"

"NOO!!!!!!!!!" I said. Everyone laughed, but they couldn't tell how much I was truly dreading doing this in front of everyone.
