Letters to Nate.

Nate leaves once again.

"Oh honey that's not what you feed a one year old." Elizabeth's Aunt criticized Elizabeth for the tenth time this morning. Elizabeth sighed and continued listening to her. Annie came down the stairs with her backpack on. "I'm ready to go!" She said cheerfully. So am I, I thought. By the look on Elizabeth's face she was thinking the same thing. "Okay." I say standing up and kissing Elizabeth and Addison before walking with Annie out to the car. I get in the driver side and Annie sits beside me in the passenger seat.

  "When is she leaving?"Annie asks as I start the car."I don't know." I answer. "I hope soon." Annie mumbled. I catch myself nodding."She's family though so be nice." I tell her. 

 

  She nodded as I pulled into her school parking lot."Be good and have a good day at school okay?" I say as park the car."I will Nate Bye!" She gets out of the car and walks to the school doors. I start driving to work realizing I'm late.

"Finish that project by Monday Nate we need it." My boss Mr. Mandolin instructed in the meeting. I nod scooping up my papers and walking to my office. Just easy cellphone rings. I put down my paper before answering the phone."Hello?" I say into the phone. "Hello it's your sister." My mom says into the phone."What?"I ask confused. I haven't heard or seen Jessica since she moved to New Jersey. "She was in a car crash last night. She's not doing well." I could hear tears in my mother's voice. I gasped placing my phone between my ear and my shoulder. So I can gather my papers into the folder."We would like it if you could go up there to see her. We are already heading up. I'm calling you from the car." I'm already walking  out my office. I said I would and hung up the phone. Quickly telling my boss it's a family emergency.

I run into the house, Scaring a surprised Elizabeth. Who was staying home with Aunt Kelly."Nate, Are you alright?" Elizabeth said worried. I shake my head no."What happened?" She asked."My sister was in a crash last night." I say quietly. She  rushes to me and hugs me."Nate I'm so sorry. How bad is it?" Elizabeth knew my sister in high school. Jessica was one of her best friends but like me Elizabeth lost touch with her."I don't know. All I know is she isn't doing good." I answer.

Elizabeth helped me pack. I was going to visit Jessica and be back home in three days to help Elizabeth get ready for treatment that would happen two days later. Elizabeth was staying home with Annie,Addison,and of course Aunt Kelly. I wrapped Elizabeth in a hug and kissed her lips. I carried my two bags down the stairs with me and kissed Addison and Annie before walking to the door."Call me tonight Nate." Elizabeth said as I walked out the door I told her I would. And drove away from my Elizabeth again.
