Izaya woke up to the sound of bickering and the smell of sweet pancakes. The said male lets out a groan as he didn't find both very pleasing due to the fact that they had awoken him. Another was that the bickering sounded like it was from the female black-market doctor and the male veterinarian.
But why not find the luscious, sweet smell of pancakes unpleasing? The reason was easy for Izaya; he disliked sweets. Well, we can't blame the informant for having such a bitter soul.
The two long-time residents of the house came inside his bedroom with Reira pushing a wheelchair where (Y/N) was seated, probably for their own amusement. The patient remembered that both have promised to bring him one a week ago in order for him to be able to leave being confined alone inside the room.
"Good morning, Izaya!" Both of the medicine acquainted twenty-year-olds greeted, acting as if it was a special day for him when the only thing different for the day was that they had brought him a wheelchair.
"Good morning." The information broker greeted back¸ not exactly in the position to offer them a witty remark with how they had treated him even though he knew that the two did not like him much. "I see that you have kept your promise."
He was well aware that it was just a business-like treatment; he was the patient while (Y/N) and Reira were the doctors. Izaya was left no choice but to bear with not being able to do his usual antics, toying with people, for a while. He did owe them his life, like how he owes Kine and Mamiya Minami. But, that wouldn't mean that he can't keep it to a minimal.
"Well, I should take my leave now. I have animals to care, not a despicable human." Reira mentioned before leaving, the last part obviously directed towards Izaya. The informant didn't seem to mind as he was used to people feeling ill towards him; he actually found it quite dull, like how he sees almost everyone. But, the fact that the whole human race interests him was still undeniable
"Let's get that bandage of yours changed before you have breakfast." (Y/N) stated, getting up from the wheelchair.
~~~~~
"How's the stitch on the cut?" I questioned as I pushed Izaya's wheelchair, strolling outside in the quiet rural town.
"It's completely fine. Do I really have the right to complain when you're doing all this for me?" Izaya stated with a small hum, as he let his gaze wander through the unfamiliar, serene neighbourhood. "I have to admit that I'm quite not satisfied with the wheelchair, however. I'm rather used to the one I own at Ikebukuro."
"Shut it, freeloader." I said as a snarky remark, earning me what seemed to be an apologetic smile from the raven head. "You don't know how much all those antibiotics, antiseptic, pain killers, bandages, etc. costs. Once you get better, you'll have to pay me. Got it?"
"Sure. As long as you don't end up killing me in that span of time." Izaya's eyes glinted with mischief, reflecting his not-so-pleasant intentions with his next remark. "I do know you haven't forgiven me for that time. I'm just saying that it wouldn't be much of a surprise if it were to happen."
I knew it was only a matter of time before this man brings up that topic, I guessed it would be somewhere around the times when Reira's out for his veterinary work. I was well aware of this man's twisted ways of manipulating people simply through his shrewd words. It honestly fills me with frustration, especially since even with the knowledge of that fact, I found it impossible to escape him. The sick verity of that his presence was in front of me right now was an enough proof for that.
I can never escape with the information in his hands.
Like what I had read once, "Information is stronger than brute attacks." And in all honesty, I had compared that with Izaya's duels with Shizuo-senpai. Though, I had never seen either side winning.
