Because why not? It combines both of your favorite things: fantasy and gritty dark things. Not to mention that Jonathan loves psychoanalyzing some of the characters.
You had started watching it because you gave up on trying to read the books as they jumped around too much with character point of views. You actually only got about seven chapters into the first book before you wouldn't go any further. Jonathan had to listen to you complain about it so he suggested that you both watch the show together.
You agreed and now you both are in the middle of season 4. The only reason why you haven't progressed further yet is because you only really watch it when you both are in the mood, and can spare an extra hour or two.
The moment all the houses were introduced you insisted that you and Jonathan take a quiz to see what houses you each belonged in.
