Three weeks have passed since I've been stuck in this library. I spent almost all my days in front of the computer and book. Luckily this computer technology has arrived here so I won't need to write it down. I start translating the books in order of its length and my familiarity with it. Yes, even though this is another world, there is always some similar literature that I found across. I prioritize doing the one that I've read before, whether it was in this life of my previous one, and the one which is short. So that it looks like I've finished a lot. Prioritizing the quantity. I manage to translate five short books a day but the number starts to decrease once I take up a longer book. The only good thing since I started doing this is that Darren has become more tolerant to me. We don't have sex as often as before. I sometimes fall asleep in the library and wake up late on my bed. To be fair, I kinda push my limit to finish things faster and have an excuse not to be in bed.

I really don't know what he's gonna do with these translations. After searching for more information about that device, I found out that those devices are not from this country. The others made it. That device can translate across languages in this world. The meaning of the words in the books and voices when having a conversation is gonna be embedded in the user's brain so two people can have conversation in their perspective language. This localized culture has deeply rooted that the knowledge of word to word translation becomes lost. It seems Darren really wants to naturally understand the language as I notice some meanings are lost in that device translations. Still this task should not be handled by a single person.

I stretch my body after a long day in front of the computer. I usually do this to loosen my body every two or three hours. It's not good to sit for too long.

"You still here?" Darren's voice suddenly called me. I finally got used to his behaviour of showing out of nowhere.

"Ah yeah, I decided to finish this one more," I said as I immediately returned to my seat and started to continue my work. Darren comes slowly approaching me and picks up printed copies of the book that I've finished translating. "I never knew it could be interpreted this way," he said while reading my works. Well, I tried the device and noticed that the use of vocabs are so limited. The meaning is conveyed but the variation of words can make a book become more meaningful.

"You can head back first, you know," I said after I noticed he took and started to read my works on the sofa. "Just finish what you are doing," he said without diverting his eyes. Ugh, just go away please. I don't plan to have a late night company today. I did as he said and just focused on my work.

Sometimes, I want to curse my skills. I finished the rest of that book within an hour. I just can't bring myself to type or read slowly. I notice Darren is still reading on the sofa. I stood up, walk away to put the book on the shelf. I plan to get another one when I feel a hand stop me.

"You said that was the last one for today," Darren appeared behind me, pushing back the book to the shelf. "Err... I didn't notice that it was short so I still got time to pick another short one," I lied. I just hope he will get tired of waiting for me and head back first. "You realise I never give you any deadline right," he said. "Well... yeah, but-"

He kissed me, out of nowhere, stopping my talk. The fact that his kiss only feels better every time he did it, scares me. I know how to kiss to make my partner melt, but his amount of passion is just different. I tried to kiss him back in every way I could to take some control. Doesn't work. I'm getting dominated by him.

He finally let my lips go. He gave me a smirk before continuing to kiss my cheeks and neck. His hand slit into my shirt and just caresing my chest.

"Could we not do it, please," I said to him. If he continues, I know very well where this is going to go. He stopped and looked at me. He raised one of his eyebrows while looking down at me. "Why?" he asked with the eyes that look like it could pierce into my soul. "Err... I'm just too tired tonight," I hesitantly said to him. This is the first time I openly reject him. Something that the old Caden would never do. Well, I feel like he kinda knew that I'm not the old me, so I'm just trying my luck.

The loud noise can be heard before the pain was felt. Darren just slammed my body to the floor so suddenly that I really realised what he just happened afterwards. The pain spread from my back to my entire body.

He knocked me down. Pressing his hand around my throat. Choking me. "You dare to talk back to me now, huh? Feeling superior?" He whispered into my ears. "It's not... like that..." I said in between my effort of trying to remove his hand. He is just too strong, yet I don't fear him. I look him in the eye and it doesn't scare anymore. I'm suffocating and feel very annoyed.

My energy runs out fast as my body lacks oxygen. My vision becomes blurry and my head is throbbing. I feel very dizzy and weak. Darren still stares at me, with his angry look, when I finally lose consciousness.

Let's hope that I'll get a better life after this.
