This isn't irondad, just some spideychelle fluff, seeing as lozap21 dared me to make something that wasn't angsty and dark.

Soooooo here you go.

------------

Michelle 'MJ' Jones wasn't the type of girl to fall head over heels for a guy. Let alone a dorky, cute loser.

But she had.

The first time she noticed him was in her gym class. He was helping a boy up that had been knocked over by the school bully, Flash Thompson.

Then, she got to know him, sitting at his table.

He was actually really nice.

And, she realized, reeeally cute. Like extremely.

She caught herself staring at him, more than once, amused by how enthusiastic he was over his hobbies.

He would wave his hands exaggerating the size of something, and then he would start laughing, his eyes squeezing shut as he laughed, body shaking.

But MJ stayed back. Kept her feelings to herself.

After all, she wasn't obsessed.

Merely observant.

------------

Peter wasn't sure that he knew exactly how he felt.

He met her in 11th grade.

Her hair was always curly, half up, half down.

She loved art.

And music.

So it was just coincidence that they were put as a duet in the school play.

The song they were performing was One Call Away.

Peter was vocal, MJ was piano.

-----------

On the night of the play, MJ wore a red dress, with her hair down, and simple black flats.

Peter was in a blue suit, his hair tamed out of its usual curls.

They waited in the wings, shyly glancing at each other.

When their number was called, they walked onto the stage.

Peter took her hand, giving it a quick squeeze, and she felt her face flush.

She sat on the bench, with Peter at the microphone.

The background music played softly, and MJ slowly rested her fingers on the keys, and started playing.

After the first several seconds, Peter started singing.

I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away

The audience was silent.

Call me, baby, if you need a friend
I just wanna give you love
Come on, come on, come on
Reaching out to you, so take a chance.

MJ glanced up, and noticed Peter watching her as he sang.

No matter where you go
You know you're not alone

Her cheeks felt hot, and her fingers almost missed a note.

I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away

Their eyes met again, and MJ wondered if he was singing to her.

Then she dismissed the thought as ridiculous, even though his smile made her heart race.

Come along with me and don't be scared
I just wanna set you free
Come on, come on, come one
You and me can make it anywhere
For now, we can stay here for a while, ay
'Cause you know, I just wanna see you smile

Peter stepped closer.

No matter where you go
You know you're not alone

The crowd gave their rapt attention.

I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away

MJ could swear she saw tears in several people's eyes.

And when you're weak I'll be strong
I'm gonna keep holding on
Now don't you worry, it won't be long, Darling
And when you feel like hope is gone
Just run into my arms

Oh how she wanted to.

I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one, I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away

She let the piano notes fade away, until it was only Peter's voice, singing the last words.

I'm only one call away

Then the audience rose to their feet, clapping and yelling.

Peter pulled MJ to her feet, giving her a wide grin, and she smiled back.

"Kiss her!" Called a girl in the front row.

MJ froze, a bubbly feeling inside of her, as Peter turned, and kissed her softly.

It was soft, and warm, and perfect.

Everything she'd hoped for.

When he pulled back, she could see that he looked hopeful, and excited. "Wanna go on a date?"

Like she could resist those puppy eyes. "I thought you'd never ask."
