"Okay Arrex just called, there's an accident up ahead so just follow him off the next exit" Caleb says just after hanging
We were almost to the lake house. It was currently just after ten forty-five. Usually we would be there in another forty minutes but I have a feeling it's going to be longer
"He said we're gonna take a back way there. We're not going to actually get there until after midnight" Caleb adds
I just wanted to get there. Why the hell did I volunteer to drive? All I wanted to do right now is sleep.
"Alright, well since we're going to be stuck in here for another hour and a half, let's listen to some more music" I say turning the volume up. When we first started we were blasting oldies but the later it got, the lower the volume our music got.
He silently reaches over and grabs my phone off my lap to change the song.
"Okay so country or early 2000's?" he questions
"Just put it on shuffle and let the phone choose" I grin as one of my favorite song starts to play "I love this one!"
"Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One prozac a day
Husbands a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four

"She was gonna be an actress,

I sing the first verse while he grins at me
"Okay c'mon Co, I know you like this song" I tease as I turn it up even more
He just rolls his eyes with a grin as I continue to sing. This was one of our favorites when we were little.
" Her two kids in high school" I continue to sing loudly and obnoxiously "They tell her that she uncool cause she still preoccupied
With 19," I paid with a grin before blooming at him "19"
"1985!" Caleb and I both yell while laugh
"She's seen all the classics!
She knows everyline" Caleb sings the first part
"Breakfast club, pretty in pink even Saint Elmos Fire
She rocked out to WHAM!
Not a big Limp Bizkit fan" I continue to yell my favorite line obnoxiously loud.
"Thought she'd get a hand, on a member of Duran Duran
Wheres the mini skirt made of snake skin?
And who's the other guy singing in Van Halen?
When did reality become T.V.?
Whatever happened to sitcoms, game shows on the radio?" Caleb continues
I laughs at the stupid grin he's wearing as I continue to sing. He just shakes his head at me.
I missed these road trips to the beach house. We used to do this all the time when we were little.
"Where the hell are we even going?" I question as we drive down a dark road surrounded by forest on either side
"I've been down this road before" Caleb says looking around "We still have a while until we get there. Do you wanna switch?"
"Nah I'm okay" I huff keeping my eyes in front of me "You didn't want to drive"
"Yeah I don't but you look tired, so I will. Just pull over really quick, we'll switch" he nods
I was pretty fuckin tired, if I had my sweatshirt right now I would probably be falling asleep.
"Oh fine"
