"Noel, smile" her momma fussed as she tried to take a picture of her and Elena with their diplomas
Today was the day of graduation and I ain gone lie, I felt like a proud ass boyfriend. Seeing all the shit Noel went through throughout this school year, I know making it to graduation wasn't easy for her but she did it.
I stood beside her dad, watching her fan herself with her diploma while her face was bawled up. He ended up flying in for the weekend to see them graduate so I got a chance to meet him and honestly, the nigga cool as hell.
"It's too hot for this" Noel complained and Dana, who stood beside me, agreed
"Forreal. And somebody smell musty" Dana said as she looked at the girl that walked pass. I looked at her and started laughing
"Okay, let me unzip this thing before y'all give me a heat stroke tryina take all these pictures" Elena said while she and Noel both unzipped their robes and they both put on fake smiles for the pictures. I smiled while I kept my eyes on my girl. Her smile went right back to a mug as Ben, Boomer, Baby Joe and Kd walked over
"Let me photobomb y'all real quick" Ben said while he stood in front of them making the both of them smack their lips
"Move out the way! Don't nobody wanna see your strong ass face" Noel complained and pushed Ben's head. He then looked over at Dana and started smiling
"Dana, I graduated now.. so wassup?"
She made an unpleasant noise and walked off
"Call me when y'all done. I need to sit down"
"Ima make sure we leave you too" I assured her and she stuck up her finger while walking. I turned back around to look at Noel, seeing her walk in my direction so I met her halfway
"I finally did it!" She yelled with excitement while throwing her arms around my neck
"I know. I'm proud of you and I know yo' grandma smiling big as hell right now"
A smile stretched across Noel's face "I know she is"
"Alright everybody, next step is out to eat. It's getting hot and it took me forever to lay my hair down" her momma said out loud as she fanned herself, looking around "where's Dana?"
"She went to go sit down somewhere" I answered with a shrug
"It must not be fun for her being pregnant in the heat like this"
"Betcha next time she'll keep her legs closed" I mumbled and I guess Noel heard me because she slapped my arm and we both laughed
