Forever isn't Always

Chapter 7

Walking out of my last class has me begging for a nap but I know I have thirty minutes to get to Java Joes. Climbing into my car I try not to hit any of the passing students who are too glued to their phones to pay attention to a car near them.

My phone buzzes and I pick it up form under my leg. Jades photo from six years ago crosses my phone. Her eyes aren't purple like they are now, her black fringe covers her eyebrows, she's making the silliest face and I can't help but smile looking at it. I slide to answer "hello" I say with a grin

"Hey, I've got some bad news..." she trails off

"What?" I ask turning out into traffic

"I can't make it to coffee" she says and I can tell she's frowning

"Why?" I frown and start to imagine it only being me, Bri, and Jane....

"Lucia asked me to help her track Harry" my heart skips a beat

"Why? Did she hear from him? Is he ok?" I ask in a rush

"No, she said she just had a feeling, I'm sure she just misses him. She tried to contact him but you know how he is." He says and I sigh

"Of course, well let me know if you find anything" I say quietly

"I will, tell Bri I'm sorry I couldn't make it. I'll talk to you later"

"Alright, I will, bye"

The shop is slow today, only a few people typing away at there computers or reading huge textbooks. The aroma of dark roast coffee fills the room and it warms my chest. Each seat is unique and vintage, one of the walls is made of brick and hanging lights line the ceiling and walls. I sip on the foamy latte just as I see Bri walk in. I wave over to her as I see her stare around the cozy coffee shop. She spots me and smiles shyly as she makes her way over. "Hey" she says as she sits down across from me.

"Hey!" I reply

"Jade coming soon?" She asks sitting down

"Actually she's helping Lucia with a tracking spell" I tell her not really wanting to talk about Harry...knowing I'll worry.

"Wow...I can't wait to perform spells like those" she says in awe

"you'll get there, especially being related to Lucia and Jade is always happy to help" I assure her

"Hey there!" Janes voice causes us both to jump

"Oh hey" I shake my head and recollect myself "Bri this is Jane, we have a class together"

Jane looks over Bri and smiles "nice to meet you"

"Yeah you too, well I'm about to get myself some coffee" Bri stands

"I second that" Jane stands and hooks her arm with Bri "shall we" they both smile and head up to the line

The next hour goes by slowly Bri and Jane talk the whole time while I try my best to make a few comments. Jane has this way about her, when she wants someone to like her she will talk their ear off...we have not had a conversation like that yet. I won't lie I did talk to Marcus through the link most of the time. I missed him and it's not like they were talking to me.
