So we're just going to go ahead and pretend that in the gif, it isn't the hogwarts forcefields being broken down and allowing the Battle of Hogwarts to begin where countless people lost their lives...we're going to pretend it's fireworks, so...whooo! Pretty and unharmful!

Slughorn's office was booming once more as the party was in full swing. Students were dancing and the host himself was talking to a tall man who had a quill in his hand by the drinks table, his mustache jumping up and down as he spoke excitedly to the man. The self-proclaimed Marauders walked in. James and Remus first, drifting to the nearest table and helping themselves to the hors d'oeuvres. Sirius, being the only one of age, walked to the drinks table, his arm secured around Eloise who, he had noticed, was getting looks from the boys in the room. Although, Eloise wasn't paying any attention to them, instead she was focusing on the multitude of girls watching her boyfriend as he poured a firewhiskey, eyes wide and lips parted. A small growl emitted from her throat as she looked at the girls and her eyes narrowed dangerously,

"You alright, Gorgeous?" Sirius asked with a smirk, having heard her noise of discontent.

"Me? Oh yeah, fine..." she muttered, her eyes flicking to the corner of the room where some Fifth Years were looking Sirius up and down, "Just trying to ignore the desperate bimbos who seem to think they can just ogle at my boyfriend." she hissed and Sirius' smirk widened,

"Now who's jealous?" he asked, passing her a cup,

"Shut up." she muttered with a small smiled, "They're just so daft, don't they know that I'd happily hex any brainless moron who decides to- did she just fucking lick her lips?" she asked incredulously and placed her drink down, "Right." she turned to face an amused Sirius fully, placing a hand at the back of his neck, "That does it." she muttered before pulling him down to her, kissing him in full view of the girls. She felt him smile into the kiss as he wrapped one arm around her back, pulling her closer whilst the other rested on her hip. Eloise pulled back, pecking him one more time before picking up her drink and turning back to the girls who were now stood with their mouths open in shock. She sent them a wink and began to walk off, "Get drinks for the boys yeah? I'm going to go and talk to old Sluggy." she said to Sirius and he blew her a kiss as she walked off.

Making a beeline for the Potions Professor, Eloise didn't notice the person about to walk into her and managed to spill her firewhiskey over the girl to her left,

"Watch it!"

"Oh I'm so sorr-" hold on..she knew that voice. Eloise looked up and met eyes with the victim of her drink spillage. She bit back a laugh, this is brilliant she thought as she watched Daisy Maple wipe firewhiskey off of her mauve dress. "Daphne!" Eloise greeted with an overly enthusiastic smile, "Fancy seeing you here." she tilted her head and rested a hand on her hip,

"Potter." Daisy nodded with a scowl, "Here with Sirius are we?" she asked maliciously and Eloise's smile widened,

"Yep, me and Sisi have been going out for a while now." she said sweetly,

"Don't count on it lasting for very long." the Ravenclaw told Eloise in a matter-of-fact tone, "Sirius isn't one for relationships."

"Yes, well, having been best friends with him for over six years, I already knew that." she told the girl, "Maybe he just needed someone special to break the trend." Eloise shrugged and Daisy's blue eyes narrowed to slits,

"He doesn't love you, you know." she spat, "He never will."

"I think I'll be the judge of that, Daphne dearest." Eloise retorted, her smile- albeit fake, had vanished and she shared the same venomous expression as the girl in front of her, "You see, we've been together for six months, which is more than your singular month and he's yet to break up with me." she said, counting what she said off her fingers, "So I've come to a conclusion and I think..." she said with a sarcastic smile, taking a step forwards, "I'm winning." she whispered before patting the top of the girl's head and walking past her, "Toodles!" she called as she left, raising her hand in a small wave and leaving the Ravenclaw where she stood, steam practically pouring out of her ears.

Eloise approached Slughorn,

"Good evening, Professor." she said cheerfully and the Potions Master clapped his large hands together,

"Ah, Miss Potter, I was wondering when you'd get here." he said, patting her shoulder before looking around, "Why...where's your other half?" he asked and Eloise smiled,

"James is scoffing the food, typically-"

"No, no." Slughorn interrupted, shaking his head slightly, "Mister Black, you're boyfriend." he gave her an over exaggerated wink and she suppressed a giggle. As if he knew they were talking about him, Sirius arrived at Eloise's side, grabbing her hand and intertwining their fingers, "Speak of the devil!" Slughorn positively beamed, "Hogwarts' Golden Couple."

"Evening, Sir." Sirius greeted with a smile, "As much as I'd love to catch up, this is our song." he nodded to the walrus-esque man and pulled Eloise to the dance floor, placing his hands on her waist whilst hers trailed up to his shoulders.

"This isn't our song." Eloise said with a sly smile as she looked up at Sirius, "This is The Smiths...Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now...how romantic." she rolled her eyes and Sirius chuckled,

"I had to get you out of there." he told her, "I spotted some girls making their way over and I didn't want them to get too embarrassed about how disgusting they looked compared to you." he smile his charming smile and Eloise tutted but couldn't help the smile that tugged at her lips.

The song ended and Slughorn commenced the countdown, the numbers once again appearing in golden letters in the air. Eloise looked around her. Remus and James were doing a different pose every time the number changed, both laughing heavily at Remus' attempt at standing on one leg but falling onto his arse. She looked at Sirius beside her, eyes alight as he laughed at his best friends, one hand pushing his black hair out of his face and the other holding Eloise close to him. She sighed contently, happy with where her life was: she had good friends, a wonderful family and was stood next to the love of her life. She smiled as the numbers in the sky turned to three,

"3...2...1...Happy New Year!" people cheered and confetti fell from the ceiling, engulfing the students and teachers in a blur of gold. Eloise was turned in someone's grip and Sirius' smiling face was in front of her.

"Happy New Year, Gorgeous." he whispered and she smiled, leaning forward and connecting their lips. His hand rose to cup her cheek and her fingertips found the nape of his neck. He bit down on her bottom lip and she smiled, causing him to as well and ultimately breaking the kiss,

"Happy New Year, love." she said and he rested his forehead on hers,

"I love you."

"I love you too." she smiled and they were pulled away from each other, Eloise into James' arms and Sirius into Remus',

"Happy 1977, Belle!" James shouted and Eloise laughed,

"Happy 1977, JJ." she replied, wrapping her arms tighter around him, "I love you, you know that, you're the best brother I could ever hope for."

"I love you too, Belle, and I knew from the moment I met you that I'd love you forever."

So, as 1976 drifted into 1977, Eloise Potter was happy. She was happy with her life, her friends, her boyfriend, and most of all...she was happy with herself, and that's what mattered the most.
