Florencio Series: Novel 2
I don't know if it was the adventure, the mystery, or the fact that I knew I shouldn't of been with him that made me feel so alive, but he woke something up in me. He made my heart race, made it easy for me to ignore e...
"You're acting like a crazy person," my mom says through a forced smile. I've learned in the past week that when we're in public she doesn't stop smiling; it's honestly quite creepy. I wonder why she does it; does she have a raging case of resting bitch face if she's not smiling? "Sorry," I say, trying to stay still. I find Nina and Marcus taking pictures next to a tree. "I'll be right back." Not waiting for her response, I jog towards them, looking to see if Amor is with them. She's no where to be seen. I've been trying to get ahead of her all week with no call or text back. I've seen her at school, but always end up getting held up with someone. Nina's smile fades when she sees me. "What are you doing here?" She asks. I look around them down at my clothes. "I graduated, just like everyone else here," I tell her. She crosses her arms, glaring at me. "Why are you so mad at me?" Her eyes widen. Marcus rushes over, wrapping his arms around her from behind. "You really think I'm that stupid?" She asks, shrugging him off of her. "Amor talks to me; she told me what you did to her you lying piece of shit. I knew about your ways, which is why didn't want you around her. Why her? Did you want to take someone who was already in so much pain and make it worse?" I take a deep breath, looking around again. I would rather explain myself to her rather than Nina, who has no business in the situation. "I didn't mean to hurt her. I lo-" "Don't you dare say you love her," she says angrily, her voice progressively getting louder and louder. "If you did, she would have been more than just her virginity." I run my hands through my hair, shaking my head. Marcus looks over to the side nervously, the back to me. I look in that direction to see Amor leaning against the stair railing. Nina notices her too and tries running to her before I do. Amor's head shoots up, startled. Her eyes lock with mine. "What are you doing?" She asks, wrapping her arms around herself. "He's leaving," Nina says. I glare down at her. "No, I'm here because I'm we need to talk," I say. She sighs, looking down. She looks stunning today, well more than usual. Nina must have done her makeup because it's more on the dramatic side, and the dress that's peaking out from under her graduation gown is a dark maroon color that has a deep cut. I shouldn't be focusing on her looks. "There's nothing for you to talk about," Nina says. "You don't know about the situation, so please go mind your own god damn business," I snap. She crosses her arms, looking back at Amor. "You can go back, I'll be there in a minute," she tells her. Nina glares at me before walking back to where she was with Marcus. "What do want to say?" "I need to explain myself for what happened last week; I didn't mean the shit I said," I say. She crosses her arms, looking away. I don't blame her for not wanting to look at me; I must disgust her. "About two hours before you came over I spoke to my dad when I went back home to get a few things. He knew he couldn't hurt me physically anymore since I'm not under his roof, so he decided to mentally do it." Her brows pinched together. I don't know what explaining all of this will be, but I don't want her going on thinking I only wanted sex from her. That wasn't my head intention at all. We could have never had sex and I would have been happy because I had her. "What does that mean?" She asks. "He knows your a weak spot on me; so if he hurts you, I'd hurt. He said he would...do things to you and I didn't believe him. Somehow, I only have a theory, he figured out your school schedule and address; hanging friends in the law enforcement can have its perks I guess. Once he showed me he had that shit I knew I couldn't take my chances. He doesn't want me to be happy, so it was either hurt you to make you leave me, or him hurt you; I obviously made the decision to ruin our relationship." Her eyes search mine, trying to figure out if this is the truth or not. "Why are you telling me all this if he'll hurt me? Isn't the defeating the purpose of what you did?" "He doesn't know I'm telling you," I answer. "I didn't want you thinking what I said was true. I love you; I'm so fucking in love with you and I wish I wasn't because I'm terrible to you." "No, you're not," she says, taking her gown off. "I am. You don't deserve to be the target when I'm mad about something that isn't your fault. I'm incredibly selfish for hoping you'll take me back after this." She presses her lips together, blinking rapidly, something she does to keep from crying. I'm tired of being the cause of her tears. "I'm sorry," she says, "but I don't think that's best. You and I are too different like I said before all of this. This isn't because of your anger or what you said, but because I need to out myself before others for once. Please respect that." I nod, swallowing down the lump in my throat. It breaks my heart knowing that this is the end, but it makes me happy she's doing this for herself. I want her to get better, be the best version of her she can possibly be, with or without me. "I'm happy you're taking care of yourself," I say, forcing a smile. She sighs, smiling back. "If Nina doesn't tear my head off before we all leave, maybe we can all get together in Thursday. I leave Friday night." "Leave for what?" "Training," I tell her. She tenses, letting out of a deep breath. "I'm going through with my initial plan." "What if you get hurt?" She asks, her voice oozing with concern. I shrug, giving her a soft smile. "I can only try not to," I say. Surprising me, she wraps her arms around me, her head pressed against my chest. I hug her back, squeezing her, taking in this moment that might be the last we share. My eyes drift closed, "petting" her hair. Someone clears their throat, making her pull back. Her family stands in front of us with her therapist between her dad and Zurine. "What are you doing here?" She asks. Looking just as confused as I am. For a minute I thought something was going in between them. "Your dad invites me. I wanted to see you on your big day," he says, smiling brightly at her. Fucking asshole. "Congratulations to you too...what's your name again?" "Adriel," I say, shaking his hand. "What are you two doing?" Mr.Florencio asks. I look down at Amor whose standing awkwardly beside me. Our eyes meet when she looks up nervously. "I just needed to talk to her about a few things," I say. He nods, jaw set and glaring me six feet under ground. She must have told him what happened between us. How am I still alive? "Good," he says. "I'll see you around," I say, turning back to Amor. "You too," she says. I give them all a fake smile before starting to walk away. "Adriel!" She yells. I turn around. "Don't die," she says. There's humor in her voice, but I can tell she's also being dead serious. "I'll try not to."
AN: Ekkk! I wasn't going to end their relationship without him explaining himself to her first. Along with that, I wasn't going to have them get back together because that wasn't a healthy relationship. I'm not saying they won't get back together, there is still a lot left to this story and a lot of time for that to happen! I hope you guys enjoyed! Question: How do you feel after knowing his reasoning for what he said? What do you think will happen? Are you team Luz or Adriel? PS: You guys are going to D I E over the beginning of the next chapter 😂😂 Please check out my other stories, comment, vote, and share! Believe in yourself -Vaeh Adriel?
