Girls were often in his house.

She would normally find them in his room whenever she would be summoned over. Typically, they didn't bother her. But a few of them were cheeky and they stayed too long. Gareth never forced them out, they usually sat around the living room on their phones, making things easier on her. She'd walk in and most of them would assume that she was simply the next one.

She understood that he wasn't into one girl and one guy, but she couldn't help but feel betrayed every time she would find a girl with him or even having sex with him. However, she didn't mind. It took away from the time when he would use on her. So their presence was always welcome.

So when Kyle came over, she couldn't help but try to ignore Gareth a little. It wasn't like it mattered, however, there were some other people over and Gareth was forced to look away from them sitting at the table doing their project.

"If I get the sense that whatever you guys are doing isn't part of a "project", you'll fucking regret it," he whispered in her ear before walking off to go and talk to his visitors.

She rolled her eyes. She wished.

---------

"I'm going." She called. "We're going to go pick up some supplies at the store."

She waited a few seconds before trying to turn around and run out of the house faster. Kyle smiling at her innocently as he searched for his keys.

"Wait why are both of you going?" he asked. "It should only take one person."

She rolled her eyes as Gareth stood between them, pulling her close and making it awkward as usual.

"We both need to see the materials." she deadpanned. "I don't want it looking wrong."

"Well, I need you here. The guests can't see my girlfriend leave with another man," he stressed.

"Its ok Lia." Kyle smiled. "I'll text you, so you can see the stuff."

"No, it's not okay." she huffed.

"Nalia. We're not having this conversation. Get back inside." Gareth said lowly. "You have to greet the guests."

She cursed under her breath as she began walking into the large house and made her way to the door, realizing she had to wait for Gareth because the door was locked.

"They'll be gone at 3," Gareth told Kyle. He handed him some money and whispered something in his ear before walking back to her. They watched Kyle drive off before he gripped her arm and dragged her back inside. He shoved her toward the stairwell, staring at her with a frown.

"Go to my room," he commanded. "I'll be up in a minute."

The guests stayed until the evening, and then she heard them leave. She could tell that Gareth had been displeased by the display of affection she had given to his friend, but he was being asinine, keeping her in his room. She decided that there was a bold line to draw for Gareth, that needed to be set.

"What the hell were you doing down there?" he scolded. "You embarrassed me so much."

"I was working with my friend." she sighed. "I didn't embarrass anyone."

"My friend," he stressed. "He doesn't like you."

"He likes me. He at least respects me." she snapped at him. "And why do you even care at all?"

"You think he likes you?" he asked.

Nalia sat on the mattress, lips pursed together dryly.

"He does," she said weakly. "He treats me better than you. He doesn't hurt me."

"We both know he'll never love you," he said cruelly. "So I don't understand why you must try and use him to annoy me."

"I don't want to be here with you." she hissed. "I'm going home."

"I fucking dare you to walk out right now," he warned her. "I'll call your dad and tell him about what you and that little dipshit were doing."

"I thought you and Kyle were friends," she opined.

"Kyle and I are friends," he affirmed. " He can't be friends with my girlfriend."

"Again, we've talked about this girlfriend nonsense." she scowled. "And where is Kyle anyways."

"He'll be back tomorrow," he said. "I told him the guests would be staying a while."

"I don't understand why you care when Kyle and I hang out," she mumbled. "You always have your whores over."

"You are my fiancee," he sternly said. "And you understand the rules, and you know exactly why I don't approve of it. You need to get over yourself for a fucking second and realize that I can crush your family and you in an instant. So don't you ever act like you don't know what I mean by it ever again, or I will ruin both of you."

Before...

She shivered at the thought of before.

Her mind immediately shut down at the notion. As far as she was concerned, there was no before, only now. And now was cold and empty. She huddled in the corner, the warmest option if anything in his cellar of a room could be considered warm, for as long as she could remember. When she sensed the other-than-nothingness floating by, she raised her hands to shield her face, curling in as small of a ball as she could manage.

Occasionally, the maids brought her sustenance. It had no taste or smell that she could distinguish, but she would eat it-there was no option not to. A memory of refusing tickled at her brain, but that was before, and she did not dwell on before. Her father had abandoned her completely, and practically handed her over to Gareth, he informed her that he had sealed the deal with his father. It wasn't as much of a shock as it was painful. Gareth gave her a ring and proposed at a big party, where a bunch of old people sat around making faces and saying words that held no meaning.

Before was pain and...surprises. They were not pleasant surprises. Her mother passed away, the rest of the family left her with her dad, no longer wanting to talk to either of them, they all abandoned them in their time of need, and she should have left him as well, if she knew that this was how things were, she was a bargaining chip. She never knew what was coming. Gareth always had new and inventive ways to force her to break. Now she had learned that life was not fair, and she needed to work for herself. She had always been a fast learner. Gareth often reminded her of the small journal that he kept in a safe, every time he would suggest doing something that she didn't want to. She completely regretted being careless with her things, she hadn't been deserving of such.

Gareth deserved to have somebody else hold a threat over their head, and see how much he actually liked being held against his own will by a jackass. She wondered how his father would feel if he knew about the many women they invited into their home.

She frowned at that notion, wondering where it had come from. Always been a fast learner? A thought that flit across her brain as if this was a commonly accepted truth, though she couldn't fathom where it had come from. She remembered the warm smile of his best friend and being a teen girl, a life she missed dearly.

She could only feel rage toward him; unmedicated rage. The idea of hitting him in the back of his head with a blunt object.

No! Her mind clamped down on the concept, twisting and choking it like a vice.

Yes, that was right-there was no point thinking on that any longer. Whatever was before this was safely locked away, in the confines of her mind. She needn't worry because, in this world, she knew what to expect. She would play by the rules...always by the rules. She had started coming to his house for vacations, and then she was made into the doting girlfriend and fiancee, a machine.

The girls still came and went, and Kyle was still friends with Gareth. She had been abandoned by all if her so-called friends, who found better things to do with their time. They all left her behind once again. But this time, they wouldn't get away with it. She swore that she would ruin his life the way he ruined hers.
