the two plopped onto the couch together, a bowl of popcorn sat in between them.
"i'm glad you came to your senses," kai began, his voice coming out as a grumble, "but that doesn't mean i forgive you."
yue frowned, wrapping an arm around his neck, "please, i beg of you," her plead had come out a bit jokingly, causing a smile to tug at the corner of his lips. she pinched his cheek, "ah, come on ningning. you can't stay mad forever."
finally, his face broke out into his contagious smile, yue mirroring his actions.
"i knew you couldn't resist me," she giggled, turning to face the tv.
the two watched the movie in silence, occasionally laughing at the stupid stuff that the actors would do.
cutting the silence, kai heaved a sigh, flopping his arms out.
"what is it?"
he huffed, sitting up straight, "i know i whined and stressed how much i wanted you to be here, but.."
yue furrowed her brows, pausing the movie.
"i can't help but feel guilty." kai pointed to the door, "go watch your stupid movie with beomgyu."
"are you sure? i know how important this is to you.." she trailed.
"yeah, it is important," he pursed his lips in thought, before coming to a final decision, "but your feelings are also important. i don't want to be holding you back from something, potentially, great."
yue grinned, giving him a hug, "what did i do to deserve a best friend like you?" she threw on her jacket, leaving his house in a hurry, "bye, kai!"
kai sighed, looking up towards the ceiling, "hey, big guy," he pointed, "i better get a girlfriend for that."

a few rushed knocks sounded on beomgyu's front door, causing the clinking of dishes at the dinner table to stop.
"i'll get it," he announced, walking over to the entrance.
pulling it open, he was faced with an out-of-breath yue.
"hi," she breathed, smiling that contagious smile. "you still up for that movie?"
yue almost missed his small grin as he turned back, "wait a sec."
she reeled back and forth on her feet, looking around awkwardly. observing his front room, she admired the subtle, yet beautiful, decorations. so this is what his house looks like; it's nice.
beomgyu came back with his jacket, closing the door behind him, "ready?"
she nodded, following him to the sidewalk.
"do you like scary movies?" beomgyu asked, hoping she would say no.
she nodded, "they're great! kai and i usually watch them together every halloween."
beomgyu bit his lip, realizing his plan of action may need a little revising. he was hoping that if she happened to get scared, he could comfort her like the guys always do in the movies.
"what about you?"
he nodded, "yeah, they're good." she hummed in response.
they entered the parking lot, walking over to a grassy area since neither of them were old enough to drive or own a car.
beomgyu couldn't help his urge to steal small glances at the girl beside him. he wouldn't admit it, but he found it cute that she was so interested in the movie.
something loud happened on screen, and yue gasped, turning to ask beomgyu if he had seen it, only to realize he was already looking at her.
"is there something on my face?" yue questioned, worried that that was the reason for his ongoing stare.
beomgyu shook his head, smiling just a bit, "no. i just wanted to look at you."
yue was thanking whatever spirits were watching over her that it was dark, because she knew her face would've been beet red.
"o-oh," she looked down, her eyes widened.
"is that okay with you?"
"huh?"
beomgyu's face remained serious, "is that okay with you?"
yue breathed slowly out her nose, hoping that it would calm her excelling heartbeat, "yeah, that's- that's okay with me."
