The great god of thunder had lost many important people in his life. His mother, his father, his brother, all of his warrior friends. But something was different about the way that she died. He had spent centuries with the others and knew all of the good and bad things they had done. But he didn't know everything about Ingrid and he had nothing to remember her by.
He never knew if she had family on Asgard when it was intact or if she had been raised with stories similar to the ones his mother told him as a child. The things he didn't know about her, hurt him but it was the things he did know, that hurt him more. How her eyes crinkled when she laughed, how she bit her lip slightly when she concentrated and how her fingertips grazed his arms softly when she was worried about him.
For him, it was five years. For her, it was slightly shorter.
