Scene 20 - Montage

INT. CAMP - DAY

Ember and Hannah are washing dishes together at the camp.

Time skip 1 week.

MONTAGE

INT. EMBER'S ROOM - DAY

Camdyn Tyler, who was saved by Ember, knocks on her door. Ember allows Camdyn to enter.

CAMDYN

You know, I've been meaning to tell you. Thank you for saving me the other day, and I haven't necessarily been the most welcoming of everybody here.

EMBER

Yeah, I know. I gotta go, it's time for my training.

CAMDYN

Oh, okay.

EXT. CAMP - TRAINING OUTSIDE IN THE WOODS

EMBER

So we're training here now.

APOLLO

I know we've been training in more spacious areas, but I thought it would be a nice change of pace if we tried something new...like this.

A giant tree comes falling down at Ember.

EMBER

What the heck was that?

APOLLO

A tree.

EMBER

(flatly)

Of course, I know it was a tree, but how the heck did it come flying at me?

APOLLO

Out on the field, there's gonna be all kinds of things flying at you.

Ember makes a confused expression.

INTERCUT DINNER TABLE LATER THAT DAY.

Ember is playing with her food.

CAMDYN TAYLOR

So uh, how did training go with Apollo?

Ember gives Camdyn a certain look. Everyone laughs. This makes Ember feel slightly better.

ALICE

I wish I could train too. Apparently, I'm too young.

Kira nods in agreement.

Ember shakes her head.

EMBER

It's not fun. It's overwhelming.

Hannah nods.

HANNAH

I remember my training. My powers are used as an offensive, so it wasn't that difficult, but controlling my bubbles is hard.

ALICE

I've known how to use my powers since they've developed. Why is that?

ALEXANDER

Your powers were developed early like Kira's. So you had more time to learn how to use them. I would know—I taught you everything.

Alice rolls her eyes, though it is hard to tell. Kira giggles.

Blithe watches the interactions with a sour look on her face.

Bliss elbows her sister glaring at her.

BLISS

(Whisper)

Lighten up. There is no reason to be angry.
