Omniscient POV
After finding Noel unconscious on the bedroom floor Kentrell immediately rushed her to the hospital. Being that this was something brand new to him he didn't know what to do and his only concern was to make sure she was okay. Once she was admitted into the hospital he called her momma and everybody rushed over, waiting in the waiting room until they were able to go in the back with her. After about an hour of waiting they were finally allowed in the back.
Noel laid in the bed asleep and Kentrell sat beside her, not taking his eyes off of her. Although he seemed calm on the outside, inside he was going crazy trying to figure out what in the hell happened for her to end up in a hospital bed
"Ah, my poor baby" Noel's mom sighed as she brushed Noel's hair back with her hands and began to say a silent prayer. Dana sat on the other side of the room with her phone to her ear, talking to Elena and Kaleb was asleep in his car seat.
"Ion know what happened" Kentrell spoke softly while he grabbed Noel's hand. Her momma looked at him and shook her head
"It's not your fault Kentrell. Stuff just happens sometimes"
"I understand stuff happens.. but this? This ain't right. I just hope my girl alright"
"We're back here looking at her sleeping peacefully. That's enough to tell us something"
Kentrell nodded, agreeing with what she said however that didn't make him feel any better. He needed Noel awake. The room door opened causing everyone's attention to turn towards it and the doctor walked in
"I see she's still asleep" the man said as he flipped through the papers on his clipboard and Noel's mother hurried over to him
Her nerves were beyond shot. She was eager to find out what was going on with her child just as much as Kentrell was
"What's wrong with my baby?" Noel's momma asked and both Kentrell and Dana turned in his direction to wait for an answer. Before he could say anything, he noticed Noel move a little on the bed and she turned on her side, eventually opening her eyes.
The last place Noel remembered being was at home so she immediately sat up and looked around confused as to why she was in the hospital
"What? What happened?" She asked, looking down at her hospital gown then over at Kentrell
"Miss Brooks, I see you're awake" the doctor said enthusiastically. She frowned up her face, not interested in what he had to say but she did need to know why she wasn't home
"Can you just tell me why I'm here?" Noel asked, impatiently
"You ended up passing out and became unconscious so you were brought here and we ended up running a few tests to see what's been going on for you to end up like this..."
"...anddd?" Noel waited for him to continued. Although she was beyond weak, she wasn't going to lay back down until she got answers. Meanwhile Kentrell rubbed her thigh, Happy that she was awake. The doctor let out a sigh, preparing to tell her the not so great news
"Your blood pressure was extremely high.. and it's not any health related problems"
"My blood pressure!? If it's not health related then what the hell is it?" Noel asked, not happy with the news she was just given. She didn't mean to sound rude or harsh, she just wanted to know why
"Well miss brooks, your stress levels were through the roof. Now I'm not apart of your everyday life so I don't know what you do and what goes on but I can tell you this. You might have to change some things, whether it's finding a hobby that'll keep you relaxed, yoga, meditation, go get a massage-"
"Mmmh" Kentrell muttered under his breath however Noel still heard him. She glanced over at him then continued listening to the doctor
"Okay, I understand what you're saying, but where am I gonna find time to do stuff like that? I'm a busy person between classes, work and my personal life"
After saying what she said out loud, Noel then realized exactly why her stress levels were high. She was doing too much. She deeply sighed and laid back in the bed
"Maybe you'll have to just chill out for a while Noel" Dana told Noel with concern in her voice. Although Dana could be one of the most heartless people, situations like this brought out the niceness in her
"How am I gonna chill out? I can't just stop my life Dana"
"Noel I told you, you ain gotta work. I been tryina get you to quit that job for the longest" Kentrell told her as well and she shook her head
"And I've told you plenty of times before Kentrell. I don't wanna live off of you. I wanna make my own money too"
"As stubborn as Noel and Kentrell both were, this conversation wouldn't get anywhere however Kentrell wasn't gonna stop until he made Noel realize.. especially since she's not laying up in a hospital due to stress.
"You ain't living off me. You in school and I'm pretty sure that can be stressful"
"Of course you wouldn't know" Dana muttered, while Kaleb began to move around in her car seat. She reached down and slipped his pacifier back into his mouth to keep him from crying
"Babygirl, you gotta understand how serious this is. Look at where you at right now. You gotta let all of this stress go" Noel's momma told her with seriousness in her tone. Although Noel didn't wanna hear it, she knew they all were right. The doctor nodded and looked at Noel along with everybody else
While everybody waited on Noel to reply to anything that they said, she just looked at Kentrell and placed her hand on his, which was sitting on her lap "I'm sorry baby but they said I gotta let you go"
Everybody burst out laughing, except for Kentrell. He looked at Noel with a straight face and eventually moved his hand from under hers, not finding the joke funny
"Shut up. I ain stressful"
"Tuh.. shall we go there? If anything I'm pretty sure you put the icing on the cake"
Knowing exactly what she was talking about, he chuckled and shook his head. Meanwhile her momma and Dana looked confused.
"You know what. Let's not get on that right now" kentrel replied to Noel "let's just make sure you straight"
Noel smiled while she rolled her eyes and leaned forward a little while Kentrell kissed her forehead.
"Okay while y'all over there being all lovey dovey. Noel Whatchu gonna do?" Dana asked Noel and she sighed
"I guess I'll have to stop working for a while. Finals are coming up next week so I'll have a break from school and I don't know.. I guess I just gotta chill out for a while"
Although chilling out was the last thing Noel wanted to do, she knew that it would be best for her. Kentrell on the other hand, was now lowkey satisfied that not only was she okay but now she was probably gonna be at home a lot more
"Just look at the positive side of this" the doctor said with a smile in hopes he could brighten the news up "it looks like you and your boyfriend can spend more time together"
Dana looked at the doctor while popping her gum with a funny face, ready to say something sarcastic "if anything that's where all the stress is coming from"
"Dana" Kentrell called out, looking at her "choke on that gum"
She stuck her middle finger up and Noel shook her head while looking at the doctor "so, when can I go home?"
"Actually since your blood pressure and stress levels were so high we have to keep you in here for a couple more nights to help keep it down. So for now let's work on that and later we can talk about you being discharged"
Noel slapped her forehead and eventually scratched her head, What she normally does when irritated
"Thank you doctor" Noel's mom thanked him, speaking up for Noel who was obviously too irritated to say anything else. He gave off his grin and nodded before heading towards the door
"I'll be back to check on you later"
"Sure" Noel muttered, watching him walk out of the room. Once he was gone she flopped back against the pillow and let out a loud sigh
