A healthy person's urine is pale yellow. Changes in colour may indicate problems. If you notice any, don't panic. First, try to remember what you've eaten and drunk recently.
Urine colour can be influenced by foods containing colouring agents. For example, beets colour urine red, carrots make it orange and asparagus gives it a greenish tint. Tea, coffee and blueberries make the urine darker.
The yellow urine colour can get more intense if the body doesn't receive enough fluid. Conversely, the more you drink, the lighter the urine. Some vitamins and medicines (antibiotics, acetylsalicylic acid, etc.) give urine a pink or reddish hue.
If your urine colour hasn't changed after you've eliminated the above mentioned factors and you are experiencing painful or frequent urination, it is recommended that you consult a doctor.
