The boys had been gone far too long. Robyn and Lily had joined Eloise in the boys' dorm to keep her company but that didn't calm her nerves. Her right knee jumped up and down as she sat on Sirius' bed, looking out of the window at the pitch black sky that was lit but the perfectly rotund moon. Eloise was struck by its tranquil beauty but had to remind herself that it was the cause of her best friend's excruciating pain. Eloise breathing was quick and she rubbed her hand over her stomach absent-mindedly, hoping that soon enough, the boys would walk through the door, James and Sirius leaning on one another and Peter making sure no one had seen them as Remus sat safely in the Hospital Wing. But after another hour, the door was still yet to open.

Robyn, who could hear Eloise's hurried thoughts in her ears even when Lily was talking to her about Petunia's upcoming wedding, faced her with a worried frown,

"Eloise, please don't do what you're thinking." Robyn pleaded and Eloise tore her gaze from the window,

"Hmm?"

"Don't play dumb with me, sweetness." Robyn raised an eyebrow and Eloise ran a hand through her hair,

"I'm sure we don't usually take this long." Eloise muttered and looked over to Robyn and Lily, the latter of whom looked completely calm, "How are you so relaxed, Lils?" She asked and the redhead smiled,

"You do this every month, you don't realise because you're out there but you do usually take this long." She said soothingly. Lily stood up from James' bed and sat next to Eloise, "They'll be fi-"

Lily didn't get to finish her reassurance as Peter stormed through the door, covered in mud and a worried expression on his face,

"There are Slytherins in the Forbidden Forest practising Dark Magic." He rushed out breathlessly and then he spoke the words that Eloise had been dreading,

"They have Padfoot."

Eloise didn't even bother to hide her stomach as she sprinted across the grounds, Lily and Peter on her tail whilst Robyn alerted Dumbledore. For more speed, Eloise transformed into the brown and white husky of which she was so fond of and sped off into the trees, hazel eyes narrowed in concentration as she sniffed the air. After a moment or two, her heightened senses picked up on the unmistakable scent of peppermint with a slight touch of something else, something metallic...blood. Puff picked up her speed and followed the smell, determination running through her veins.

Her ears pricked as she heard a cry of anguish and almost fainted with relief as she rounded a corner and saw the shadows of five figures,

"Not so brave are you now, Black? Not now you haven't got your little posse to protect you." Someone sneered and Puff growled when she saw Avery sneering into Sirius' face as he hung upside down, blood trickling on to his cheeks from gashes on his neck. Eloise transformed back into herself and looked around for James and Moony, crouching behind a tree. She was thinking of a plan to save Sirius without being cursed into dust,
