1973

I sat on the bench in the training room, a french news paper on my lap as i flipped the page, moving onto the next article with a small sigh. "How was your mission?" Ahren asked me, walking into the room with a small smile on his face. His once blonde head of hair had gotten mousy, wrinkles framing his face due to the time that had passed. Janssens was now in charge of training, the days of missions far behind him.

"Medicore, Paris has gotten boring" I said, not even looking up at him, continuing to read my article as i leaned back against the wall. "But you still want to keep up with their news?" he asked, taking a seat on the bench next to me as i scooted along gently. "I'm a curious person" I said, flipping the page as he looked over, trying to read it as well. "How's the training administration going?" I asked him, not even looking at him as he let out a heavy sigh. "Well, the talent is getting worse thats for sure" he relied, crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned back against the wall as well.

"No Janssens?" I asked, causing him to chuckle as he shook his head at me, finally looking over at him with a small smile on my face. "No, nor is there any Ivankovas" he said, nudging me with his elbow as i shook my head at him, looking back down at my paper quickly. "I don't think HYDRA take from the Red Room anymore" I said to him, shrugging my shoulders.

"Haven't had a female recruits in a while as well" he retorted quickly as i nodded my head slowly, tucking my hair behind my ear. "Because they don't become soldiers, they go straight into being agents" I said, looking up from the newspaper as i flipped the page once again, nothing interesting peaking my interest. "No one suspects the small quiet girl, how do you think I got so far" I told him, causing him to shrug his shoulders at me.

"Well you're what 50 something now?" he asked me with a smirk as he bent his head back, resting it against the wall. "Yeah, something like that" I said quietly, letting out a small breath as moments of my life swam through my head. "Seems like a century ago since that mission when you let me get shot" I said with a smirk, closing the paper on my knee and balancing it there.

"Don't bring that back up, we've put that in the past thank you" he replied to me without missing a beat, making me scoff as i turned to look at him. "Well, there is a scar on my shoulder to remind me of it" I retorted, eyebrows scrunched as i nodded my head at him in an all knowing way. "No there isn't, your serum would of taken care of that by now" he said to me, shaking his head as i let out a scoff. "Maybe there isn't a physical scar, but there is an emotional one" I replied with a smirk. "Are you done with that?" he asked me, pointing at the newspaper.

"Yeah" I said, handing it to him as he took it off of me, opening it up as i brought one leg up onto the bench. "How's Matthias?" I asked him as he started reading the paper, shrugging his shoulders at me. "I have no idea, alive I hope" he replied, reading an article. Matthias hasn't been seen around the compound for a while, I had tried going to his office, but when I knocked no one answered, and the door was locked every time.

"If he wasn't alive this whole compound wouldn't still be standing. We'd all have no idea what to do" I scoffed lightly as he nodded his head at me. "Gerber died, did you know that?" I asked him quizzically, making him look over at me as he furrowed his eyebrows at me. "Gerber?" he asked me, having no idea who I was talking about as i nodded my head at him.

"The scientist" I started, scratching my back lightly as i let out a small shaky breath. "He gave me my serum, he was in charge of the initiative and the Winter Soldier experiment" I added, noticing he still had no idea who I was talking about. "Oh right, him" he said, nodding his head even though he was completely clueless. "Yeah, I heard some scientists talking about it, he died a few weeks ago" I added, reliving the time I was walking behind two very slow walkers discussing it. "So you were eavesdropping" Ahren stated as I shook my head at him.

"No, they were just talking loudly in my proximity. It wasn't my fault I over heard them was it?" I said condescendingly, knowing that I was eavesdropping but I didn't want to admit it. "How interesting" he replied bluntly, going back to reading the paper. "Well I'm going to be alive for quite some time, I need to source my information some how" I justified, pushing myself up off of the bench. "Do you not want your paper back?" Ahren asked me as I began to walk out of the room.

"You can keep it, consider it a souvenir" I said to him with a smirk. "Plus I'll just get another on my next mission" I added, leaving the room and walking down the hall once again. "Can you get me one too?" I heard him shout as I made my way down the corridor.

"No" I shouted back, smiling to myself before continuing to walk away.
