New Haven, Berlin, Germany...
Doom Slayer's POV???: All threats at the western wall have been neutralized.
???: Un....*static* evac...*static*
I stood, soaking in blood, among the men and women who fought for their very lives against the invading Feral threat. The land around me, as far as I could see, was reduced to nothing more than dead grass, broken rebar, and piles of scrap metal. The inhabitants of the land scattering in aid to one another as large military trucks entered the area. Lifting the Super Shotgun up to my shoulder, I made an attempt at wiping away most of the blood, missing a few spots here and there as my hand was not the best subsitute for a rag. Expanding my sight a little more, I began to scan the area once more, this time noticing a few relics of the past as I watched the city's workers give food to the distressed.
Is that.... UAC security armor?
VEGA: Down to the leggings, they have an astounding resemblance to the ones back on Mars.
So that's a yes.
VEGA: It's very possible.
In studying the worker's attire, the voice of a young teenage girl squealed from behind.
???: Excuse me, Mr. Boom Slayer, sir?
???
Turning myself around, I took a step back as I was met with another relic, this one of millenias ago.
A Night Sentinel!?
VEGA: Boom Slayer?
Sentinel: We've been asked to take you with us back to HQ.
As I stood stunned by what I was seeing, two more in the same Night Sentinel armor approached from behind her. As she spoke, a large transport helicopter was seen from a distance.
Sentinel: Would you kindly come with us?
What the Hell!?
Sentinel: Don't worry. We're not gonna bite.
Sentinel: Yet...
A Few Minutes Later...
Arcadia Industries Headquarters....The entire helicopter ride there, I stood at the edge of the side doors, ignoring the group behind me and looking down at the sight that was to be New Haven. From down on the ground, it would seem to be a city of innovation; a city of prosperity. From above, it seemed to paint a more realistic picture, with the poorest of people living right next to the wall and those who were either natives, or possessed material wealth living closer to the center. At the center of it all, a large, multinational corporate conglomerate. One that supposedly kept the monsters away.
History's repeating itself, it seems.
VEGA: Judging by your thoughts, a fairly accurate way to describe the situation.
Sentinel: We're here.
Sentinel: Finally!
Hmm?
The helicopter began its slow descent towards the helipad on one of the building's many rooftops. After a few minutes, just as the wheels had touched ground, I stepped out. As I did so, the Sentinels behind me followed, eventually walking around me towards the set of steel doors that stood as an entrance.
???: In here, please.
Unsure of the situation, I followed the group as the steel doors opened up automatically. Upon entering the building, I had seen something unexpected for a building of this mass: A lobby on one of the higher floors.
