Kaleb finally takes on ONE!
Watching my nephew grow over the year was one of the best things I've gotten to witness so far and all it does is make me beyond excited to be able to do the same for my daughter.
Dana threw him a small party, well what I thought was gonna be small. I didn't know this girl knew this many people. Although I wanted to actively participate in the party, my body and Kentrell just wouldn't let me be great. If I wasn't tired every 5 minutes. Kentrell was forcing me to sit down before I hurt myself or what he mostly meant, Kemoni, therefore I mostly stayed in the house in the air conditioning
"Kemoni, you gotta stop acting up now" I spoke to myself as I exited the bathroom for the 7th time within the last 3 hours. It's like she was sitting right on my bladder on purpose.
I wobbled my way down the hall and immediately met My momma, who was talking to one of her friends, Sharon, whom brought her kids for the party
"Girl yes! This summer is extra busy. We got Kaleb's party, I get married on the 21 and once we get back from our honeymoon, I'll be helping Noel and Kentrell get everything situated for Kemoni cause she'll be here by the 6th" I heard my momma tell her and Sharon looked over at me
"You excited to be a momma Noel?" She asked as she tried to touch my stomach but I brushed it away. I was at the point in my pregnancy that I didn't wanna be touched at all. Everybody knew that and the only person that obviously didn't care is Kentrell
"I don't think nobody's more excited than that one right there" I told her as I pointed to Kentrell in the distance, crouched down in front of kaleb watching him dance around. Sharon looked over at Kentrell along with my momma and laughed a little
"Kentrell... I've known that boy all his life and I must say I'm so glad he found somebody to calm him down. We all know he's a good kid at heart but you know..."
I nodded and looked at him again. As he stood up straight, kaleb took off running. Kentrell laughed while he watched kaleb then eventually exited outside to the front. Every since that situation with sherhonda, Kentrell's been kinda stand-offish. He wasn't acting completely different but if you REALLY knew him, you could tell he was acting different from his normal self.
"Ma, I'll be right back. Ima got outside real quick"
She nodded and I walked off while they finished talking. I went out the front door and looked around at all of the cars packed outside to see if I could find Kentrell and I spotted him leaning on the trunk of his car off on the side of the road
"It's hot as hell out here" I groaned while shielding my face from the sun, something that's was pointless because I was wearing a hat
I clutched onto my back and walked over to where he was and I guess he heard my sandals sliding across the ground because he looked back at me
"Whatchu doing outside?"
"I came to see what was up with you" I answered as I stopped in front of him and he quickly moved the blunt he had away "what's wrong?"
"Nothin' ..." he responded with a straight face and I looked Kentrell in his eyes, knowing damn well he was lying. Instead of saying anything back, I just continued to look at Kentrell until he finally sighed
"Lemme ask you a question"
"Spit it"
"Are you happy?"
I looked at Kentrell completely confused when he asked that, however I still nodded
"Yeah. What made you ask me that?"
"I just needed to know" he shrugged and was about to turn away from me but I stopped him
"Is this about that argument you had with sherhonda?"
Kentrell just looked at me and I sighed deeply before speaking again
"Desean. Why you letting what she said bother you so bad? When have you ever cared about something somebody say?"
"Because she right. I'm holding you back from doing a lot better than you can do"
"How?"
"You could've been off to college livin life right now but I kept you here and all you doing is dealing with my fucked up life. You was out here fighting bitches cause of me, you got drug into my beef only cause you fuckin with me, me going to jail, you going to the hospital and now you pregnant. I ain realize all the negative shit I was doin in yo life until now because I was too focused on me being happy"
I shook my head and grabbed his face "Kentrell you didn't do a damn thing. Stuff just happens along the way and we ain't ever stress it before so why now? I AM happy. If I wasn't, do you think I'd still be here? I'm with you because I'm in love and I choose to stay. I chose not to go off to college, shit, I wasn't gonna go at all but YOU pushed me to consider it. I'm not worried about those girls either because we left that back in high school. If they still mad, let them stay that way but it's only because I got two things they can't have, your heart and your baby"
He chuckled a little but when I said that, making me smile but I continued
"Instead of naming all of that, how about you think of all the great stuff you've done in my life"
"Like what?" He muttered
"You was the first person to actually take the chance to risk their life and teach me how to drive"
Kentrell shook his head "that one time was it. And I still won't ride in no car witchu if you driving"
I rolled my eyes and laughed "you taught me what real love was. Even though I'm still debating if Whatchu did was more considered psycho"
A grin spread across his face and I grabbed his hand
"Kentrell you've always stood up for me....even when I was giving you the cold shoulder, you always went out your way for me, even though you fucked up... you stayed honest, you fought for me... killed"
"His bitch ass" he chuckled and I slapped his arm
"But forreal. And yeah you may have went to jail, but you still made sure I had something for Valentine's Day and you always called everyday to make sure I was straight. When my grandma died, you were right there by my side through it all, you were right there by my parents watching me walk across the stage, you treat my family as if they were yours instead of mine, you make sure I have the world and more on my birthday and on random days depending on your mood, you laid right there by my side when I was in the hospital and made sure everything was straight when I got home... and you gave me the opportunity to have your first child" I told him while I wrapped my arms around his torso. This huge belly of mine prevented me from going any closer to him
Kentrell placed his hands on both sides of my waist and smiled "you know I love you right?"
"Who? Me or Kemoni?" I asked making him smack his lips
"You dumbass"
"I just had to make sure cause ion know witchu" I replied and we both laughed before I kissed him "but you know I love you too baby"
