Nothing between the two seemed to have an immediate effect on them but little changes could be noticed if one looked for them. And my god was the foundation looking for them.

049 had continued with his routine of pacing and writing whenever he didn't have a patient. The continued actions gave the scientists hope that nothing dangerous would come out of the interaction, but it also made them wish that something would happen.

They'd tried to decipher 049's journal but to no avail. How could they translate it when it didn't look anything like any known codes and the doctor made no effort in teaching them how to read it.

They'd studied his patients but there's only so much one can do before examining the bodies becomes nearly impossible, and honestly bothersome, due to the strange chemicals and procedures used.

Forget trying to find out what the 'pestilence' was they'd come up with a million different theories only for 049 to say something that contradicted them or for the next victim to not fit the mold.

They longed for something, anything, new to study about him. Finally their prayers where answered in the form of old church hymns. Almost immediately after 049 had begun humming for the first time the scientists jumped for a recorder and began trying to track down where and when it was from. They eventually managed to record several different hymns from all over Europe over the years.

Now that they had a timeframe and locations they began searching for any signs of 049's presence. Accounts of him were few and far between, he seemed to prefer keeping to himself which multiple noted was expected. Anything they could find wasn't very useful to say the least, usually just a brief mention of him or someone noting how off he seemed. Hell some of the accounts might not even be of 049.

One thing did seem to pop up quite often with and without the doctor, a porcelain mask. It appeared that they might not have been lying when they discussed what happened during the breach. The scientists took some notes on when and where it was spotted and handed them off to the team researching 035.

That team had a harder time trying to spot changes. 035 wasn't as predictable as 049, which is something people could tell even with barely scanning their files. He was an actor and new how to play the part which made it nearly impossible to tell what was out of character.

The scientists jumped on the chance to research the sightings and compare them to any others. The descriptions seemed to match. The manipulative behavior, the charismatic personality, the flair for the dramatic, everything. Even the time frames matched up.

035 didn't change at least not noticeably. He spent his time thinking of the Doctor. The good and the bad. He spent far to much time dwelling on his last night with the Doctor before they had parted ways. The wind and rain pounding against the windows, the crackling of the fire place. Oh how the mask missed the good old days.

He knew well that dwelling on the past wouldn't help his current situation so he turned his thoughts to how to escape. Surely there had to be a way to escape the foundation's grip. Hours went by and countless plans formed. Some only had the slightest chance of working while some wouldn't work at all.

Nevertheless the mask was determined to get the Doctor and himself out.
