Cadence's POV

My birthday is once again nearing

In fact, it is the night before

It's the middle of the night and I'm laying in bed trying to fall asleep

But I just can't. My mind is full of thoughts

Another year has passed, since my arrival into this fantasy like land.

But this year is even more special than usual

I will be turning 5 years old which means that I may finally have my magic aptitude tested

It seems that they have been assigned with the task, of preparing me for my birthday

Lady Lena has made many preparations for tomorrow

Whoever is the designer of these, I praise and admire you greatly for they were all beyond stunning

Numerous chefs and famed musicians have been invited to entertain the guests

Father has even allowed me to borrow his personal sweets chef!

Magic, pretty dresses, delicious food! Perhaps I'd be overjoyed for the banquet if not for this one very large factor

There is no escaping this time...

For this party I... I will be forced to interact with all those upper-class nobles and noble children

Oh, how I could not dread this more than anything...

Why could I've not just enjoyed my birthday with Levin, Anne and Lady Lena?

I do not need such a grand ball and extravagant arrangements! Although..... I would still like to keep the sweets and gowns...

Not to mention the extra etiquette and dance lessons have been exhausting!

But I do admit... somehow this is kind of nice

In my last life, I spent nearly all my birthdays alone in the hospital

I had no friends at all and my parents would always be busy working

Well not that it could be helped, my hospital and medical fees weren't exactly cheap

I am no doubt grateful for my previous dad and mum

I hope now that I'm gone, they can live a peaceful and happier life

Maybe they can finally put money into the Europe tour they always used to dream about before my wretched diagnosis

Or maybe even have another kid, they aren't too old yet after all

Well, either way, I hope that they are happy and smiling

Mum, Dad, I'm sorry I could never repay you for everything. For not giving up on me even when I myself did. For loving me despite my condition being a hopeless effort. For all the sacrifices you had to make for me. All I can say now is... thank you...

Please, I hope you are not sad about my death...

My eyelids slowly shut as a couple of teardrops, leave my eyes and rain down my checks

I can feel my consciousness slowly fade away

I fall asleep as I replay the memories of my past life when I had still been healthy

A memory of my Father piggybacking me as he ran across the green fields

Even though he was exhausted, I still wanted to go on and so he kept running

I laughed and giggled as he ran countless laps

He was completely puffed out by the end

Mother and I laughed at the sight of Father laying on the floor, tired out from all the exercise

Mum was wiping the sweat of off Dad's forehead and I handed him a glass of our freshly squeezed, homemade orange juice

[ "Here you go, Dad! You might need to start going back to the gym again!" ]

I say, me and Mum both giggling

He gets up abruptly and pulls me and Mum into his arms, engulfing us in a big hug

I laugh loudly as he tickles me in revenge which Mum later joins in

After a bit, they finally stop and now it is my turn to be exhausted and puffed out

They both lean near me and kiss either side of my cheek gently

[ "We love you, Raena. You will always be our precious little daughter" ]

The next morning

I wake up, somewhat early to the sound of the birds chirping

For some reason, I feel like I had a good dream yet I can't remember what it is, frustrating enough

I get up from bed when all of a sudden my room is suddenly barged into by none other than Anne and Lady Lena

[ "Happy birthday, little Cadence!" ]

Lady Lena says as she wraps me into a warm hug

[ "Gosh, I can not believe how fast time goes by, doesn't it Anne?" ]

[ "That's right my Lady! It feels as if yesterday, Princess Cadence was still a newborn infant being carried around! To think your highness, has grown so much in so little time!" ]

Both Lady Lena and Anne have bright smiles plastered on their face, as they fuss and pamper me non stop

Another maid knocks and comes walking in, bringing with her trolleys of food

Golden pancakes, fresh fruits, bread, jams, scones, eggs, it seems like there was every breakfast item known to man on display!

Lady Lena giggles at the sight of my drooling, still slightly drowsy expression

[ "Now, now this may not be the most proper for a princess, but today is a special day! Cadence, please eat however much you like, and enjoy this special breakfast in bed!" ]

My eyes widen and I grin from ear to ear

[ "Waaa thank you, mommy!" ]

I say well jumping into Lady Lena's arms to give her a thank you hug, to which she returns happily

There is no greater love than the one for your family and precious ones!

And also food!

[ "Quickly eat, Cadence. Don't forget that we still need to go to the church" ]

[ "Yess!" ]

I say before stuffing my mouth with the soft fluffy pancakes

Ahhh this is heaven~
