The vampire looked down at the broken man. “Get up, Ethan." A cruel smile twisted his features. "I thought this would be fun… but your pretty wife fought better.” Fangs elongated and he hefted Ethan to his feet. He bit deep.
Ethan gasped, his life’s blood flowing into the vampire. Taking a scalpel blade from his pocket, he slashed at the vampire’s wrist.
When the vampire’d had his fill, he dropped Ethan, a pale corpse. Blood still flowed from the vampire's wrist, the regeneration wasn’t working. “How?” he said, collapsing and turning grey.
“Haemophilia,” whispered Ethan with his last breath.
